Looking for interview advice
Ok, I am going to be in my first interview tomorrow as an interviewer rather than the interviewee. What would be a couple of good questions to ask?

Kinda depends on the role you are trying to fill. Ask questions that can't be answered yes or no. For instance:
Tell me about a time you saw something that needed to get done and did it?
Tell me about a time you solved a very difficult problem?
Have you ever worked with a difficult co-worker (or customer)? How did you handle the situation?
Tell me about a goal you set for yourself? Were you able to achieve it?
Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs? 10 yrs? (NOTE: If he wants to own his/her own business, then you have to figure they will bail in a few years.)

Having hired almost 20 people in just over a year in my job, I've become pretty good at the questions. I like to throw in some of the below in between the standard ones:
The first two are asked casually while entering the room:
How was parking out there? (this tells me if they have a license/vehicle or if they got a ride - if they admit to getting a ride I say with sympathy "oh is your car broken down?")
How did you find out about this job?
Tell me/us a little about you. (this can set up following questions later on)
Tell me what your email address means? (increasingly I see hotmail, yahoo etc with weird names listed on resumes. So I ask them to tell me what it means.)
Where do you see yourself in 5 years. (this was always, I thought, a standard question. I'm amazed at the people that get stumped and don't have any goals or plans)
I used to ask, why should we hire you. I now ask - tell me how you can help us improve?
The best advise I have is to ask open ended questions forcing them elaborate an answer.

Re: Looking for interview advice
why would you like to work here
why will you be an asset to the company
why did you quite your last job
can you be flexible with hours
what are your long term plans

Re: Looking for interview advice
I have two questions that I always ask as an interviewee...
1. Is your company a clever front for a supreme alien race that is planning to invade earth and probe the human race?
2. Does your company press charges?
Oddly enough I'm still looking for that perfect job...

DispDave: Ok - I have one last question for you. I am writing down three numerals on this piece of paper. When I show it to you, I want you to say out loud the numbers you see. OK? Ready? <Dave flips paper over...>
Interviewee: Nine Eleven?
DispDave: Should I call you a cab or did you drive?
