all BF42 maps on server

Post by Polecat21 »

Is there a way to uplaod all the maps currently on rotation on the server to simplifie the download process? I found a few maps here,http://battlefield2.filefront.com/files ... in=0#files, but still miss alot of others. The xpack 1 and 2 i have downloaded, and do I now open those folders and put them in the bf archives folders? Any help would be great.

I am attaching a couple of screen shots which show which maps & where they should be stored for Road to Rome (XPack1) & Secret Weapons (XPack2). They may look a little fuzzy, but if you click on the picture it should open in a better view.

I found the BF42 "The Complete collection" CDs. It was only $10 at Best Buy. So i installed Road to rome and Secret Weapons, and then wheni tried to play it said I had the wrong version. So i added the patch from this site for those games and tried again. Then it constatly kept kicking me from server for not reading pack flow. Sooo, i removed the entire game, reinstalled from square 1, and tried again. Then it said that punkbuster wasnt updated. So i went to PB site, udated, and tried again. Then it was wrong version. Tried the patches again, and tried logging in. Then it said map not found. So i dowloaded the custom maps ( the non winzip version) and installed. Then it wouldnt even start. Soo, i removed, reinstalled everything, and tried again. When i went to open the file, it said it wasnt a valid win32 application. At this point im ready to drop the computer in the front leaning rest, and walk away, but I wasnt going to let it beat me. SO i downloaded the winzip version, extracted files, and it wouldnt start again. Soooo I removed it, reinstalled it all, w/o the custom maps, and tried again. At this point im yelling at God for not giving me a break. I got to server selection screen, and finally got on to play and i chose Mimoques(sp?) and the lag was horrible. So i downgraded all my graphices, upped the secreensize, and tried again. Finally, after 3 hours of trying, i got on, and it was good. Now when i try to get on WW2 Secrets, it tells me its an invalid CD key.One day i will get the xpack 1@2 invovled, , but untill that time, I am now officially Cannon fodder for the server, so bring it !! <LOL

Good on you for sticking at it.
The problem with this game is that if you get 1 file in the wrong place then it doesn't work. So if you have an XPack1 RTR map in the original vf1942 levels folder, it aint gonna work & so on.
You're not the only 1 to have the packet flow thing too, I have seen quite a few get kicked lately for that. Seems a fairly new phenomenom. As for defeating punkbuster, oh man the troubles that software causes (but I guess we wouldn't want to do without it).
