Moxie

Post by [JiF][AARP]Grimp »

For a long time I have kept trying to drink Moxie. A soft drink made with Gentian root extracts.
It's kinda like a very bitter root beer.
Every 5 to 10 years I have gotten a bottle, tasted it and thrown it away.
Well this year I got a small bottle to try and I now like it.
Seems to me only old people ever drank it. I guess I am officially old.
Oh and Jimbo who never tried any likes it. We need to get Tissueman to try it to complete the test.

It's kinda yummy now.

I hear ya, Grimp.

I used to hate many foods when younger. Now they are a staple part of my diet.

eg.... beets, asparagus, spinach, cauliflower, crunch & munch (ok...I had to add the last one!).

Never have seen the Moxie though....mmmm...root beer.....will have to find that one around here!!

Does this mean you are moving away from doughnuts?
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

I tried Moxie many years ago and didn't like it. I suppose during my next trip to NH I could try it again. I don't think they sell it in Ohio, but I'll check out their website. I do like a lot of different foods and like strong tastes. I'll let you know in July or August.

Having read the wikipedia entry I can now see the attraction for this drink among the more senior members of society.
Moxie was said to cure ailments ranging from softening of the brain to “loss of manhood.” In 1884, it was sold in carbonated form and merchandised as an invigorating drink, which claimed to endow the drinker with “spunk”.
Another one of those trying to negate the aging process things, like buying a motor bike!

I dunno about this one....

Spunky with anything Tissue just doesn't seem appropriate for this site...
