Little bit of rain today.....
Bennett Brook Rd. This is looking left from our driveway.
This is at my parents house up the same street. I was standing at their garage door, the corner of the house is just out of the photo on the left. The mailbox there is facing the road, the pond is across the way. The water was almost a foot deep in parts of the road running down, it got to an inch or so of going in the door.
This is my parents basement. We had lost power so their sump pump didn't run...I went up there to check on everything since they were away. Got a few pumps going on it using a generator..but still pretty bad.
Everything has slowed down now, the road will need to be repaired and there is a lot of cleanup on their yard. I'll be taking tomorrow off to help. Pretty amazing storm, we've never seen anything like it before.

Re: Flooding in NH
I can relate, I've just come back from a 7 days camping trip with my cub scouts where we had rain for the 7 days, sunshine on packing day ! We had 2 tents flooded and floating !
But the kids had fun, we kept them otherwise occupied.
Hope the clean up and repairs to your parents house won't be too high.

Re: Flooding in NH
The street name really fits.
Good thing the street wasn't named River Road, Lake Road, or Ocean Avenue...
I hope everything goes well for the cleanup and repairs. I have nightmares about the day my sump fails or loses power during a big storm.

I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

It can be scary not knowing how high it will get or when rain will stop.
I remember when we had Tropical Storm Allison here in TX.
Hope it's not too bad, aftermath can be hazardous sometimes.

Hey Chaps
Guess where I am currently taking my summer vacation to get away from the rain in England!
Oh hoo hoo! Good job I've got a Saturn Outlook to drive around in & the temperature is still about 10 degrees warmer than home.
I am currently staying at a farm just outside N. Conway.
One thing, it does make the visit to waterfall sites much more spectacular. Flume Gorge tomorrow should be really flumey!

Re: Flooding in NH
City stopped by yesterday and said from our street North there was a lot of damage, but our street was the only thing in the city that was damaged. About a third to half of the road was washed away, they are going to put a second culvert in..but after seeing how much water was flowing over the road a second one of the same size would not have helped. Maybe they'll put two bigger ones in...who knows.
My parents yard is a disaster...lots of debris/sand/rocks all over the place, going to take some time to clean up as it's slow work. The basement had quite a bit of mud in it, but a power washer made short work of it. The furnace guys came in and spent about 5 hours replacing electronics to get their furnace working again. That should be a fun bill.... No idea on the washer and drier yet I think a tech is coming Friday to take a look at them. Since we live down the street they can use our washer/drier for now.
On the main state road, about a half mile away that road also washed out leaving a 30 ft drop in it's place. There were about 8 dump trucks lined up to drop gravel into the hole and a whole lot of people working to get the road repaired quickly. From what I have heard this kind of thing has happened all over the place around us. No one will be forgetting this storm anytime soon. I'll try to post some more pictures tonight of the aftermath. This wasn't exactly the nice relaxing birthday I was looking forward too lol.

Just FYI, The washer and dryer may not be ruined.
I've used an old washer and dryer(electric)for years after they were in flood.
not so Happy Birthday!
