Weird Problem

So far I've only seen this on my work laptop. I log into the website and instead of seeing "log out [JiF][AARP]Tissueman" I still see "log in", but when I look at the list of people logged in my nick is there. So I'm logged in but not logged in. Then I log in again and I'm really logged in, but the virtual me has read all the messages so I have to check dates to find the new messages.

One solution would be to not check the forum from work. Any ideas? (Grimp, that might be of real help)

:(

Same thing happened to me after I first re-registered.
Had me on the list of people on, but I still had to log in.
Hasn't happened since though.

I was so tempted to post something irreverent and unrelated
Tissue, but I (since you only warned Grimp) actually had
something relavent.
Sorry if I've let you down...

Yeah, the same thing has happened to me. I think it has to do with some residual cookies from the old forums, but I will give it more attention if it continues and after we get some of the more important configs finished.

I deleted all my old cookies and rebooted my machine and n=1 it's working right now.

Same with me. Removed all cookies associated with jiff.net, restarted IE and have not had a problem all day.

I'm still getting this problem on my work laptop. I have no problem at home. If I delete cookies AND restart IE then it logs in fine. If I don't do both, then I have to log in twice. The first log in shows me 'logged in', but I still have the log in option. I also don't have visual indication of what posts I have not read. The second log in gives me the 'log out' button, but by then I've 'read' all the messages. I have to go by message time to figure out what I have not read. I have IE 6.0 at work. I use IE at home also, but I don't know what version.

I just logged off and back in okay after I checked the remember me spot. Then I logged out, closed that window and tried another already open window. Same problem. I usually have 3 copies of IE open. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'll try keeping just one copy open and see if that matters. I would have just editted the last post, but I need the peanuts. :D

Further testing blew holes in that theory. Still a problem. Oh well.

Are other people having this problem as well?

I haven't been able to duplicate the issue, not sure what to do from here.

Kelly works with me so it could be a company issue.

I have the login problem. I have flushed the cookies.
When I go to the site it has not remembered my login. I login and the login menu is still there instead of swtiching to the logout menu.
I look at who is online and I am, but I am not really logged in as I can't see the private forums.
I log in again and then I am really logged in.

Oh, and I don't work with Tissue. Now he did send me and email maybe that did it

I don't understand cookies, but I get two of them when I visit the website:

XXXX@www.jiff[2].txt
XXXX@jiff[1].txt

where XXXX is my identifier. JiF seems to be the only site that does this.
