Re: Forgotten Hope 2
Alright- I completely missed this post.
I haven't been on the forums much.
Downloaded it last night, only played some single player- seems
pretty awesome experience-wise; sound effects are amazing,
graphics look great.
But it was choppy here and there- especially when I was flying
and I noticed some small bugs, then crashed to desktop...
Yup, it's forgotten hope alright.

I see 'Games for Windows' magazine gave it a poor rating in this month's issue...ouch.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2
They started with all desert maps so there is a lot of long range being killed by stuff you never see. The fun is dependent on being in a good squad. It is not the kind of game you can just drop into and have fun. It's more like BF2. If the other team has a good squad or squads and yours doesn't, then you are toast. It does have potential, but the question is will it last long enough to get some good Pacific or European maps out. FH1 was great due in part to the multitude of maps in every theater. It took them so long to get the first batch out that it is iffy if the next stuff will come out before the fan base disappears.
I've only played 15-20 hours and run about 50% happy with it. One map I'll get a great squad and it is a lot of fun. The next map I just die a lot and never know who killed me. For all I know it could be Grimp playing on the server that doesn't exist accidently firing his weapon and hitting me on the FH2 server.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2
I've had the same experience.
I love the game and think it has tons of potential...but as it stands,
those maps are huge, and like Tissue said, you find yourself dead
with no enemy in sight and nothing but desert around you.
On the few maps where there's some actual city/infantry fighting,
it can be a fantastic, intense experience.
I suspect Tissue is right again, I doubt they'll get a new group of
maps with a different theatre out in time to save the dwindling
fan base...but if they do, I will be playing full time again- because
it's that good...I love the period and the realism- accuracy in
weapons and sounds, it's a great experience.
My wish is to have the original BF'42 re-made to todays standards-
how awesome would that be?!?
It seems like we've come full circle, WW2 games glutted the market,
now they seem to be sorely neglected!

Re: Forgotten Hope 2
I've been playing since the patch came out.
It's much improved, but the biggest thing?
MORE MAPS!
There's actually a couple that are more infantry friendly.
Those big, ponderous maps that came out first were boring if you didn't have a tank.
I'm liking it and really, really looking forward to the next installment: Normandy.
Hey Mentat, are you still playing FH?

Yeah... I have been staying old school with FH1. I play over at Pixel Fighter. I played with Badger there last night. I have BF2 and the FH2 downloads but have never installed or played. The new patch seems to have made allot of players happy over at Wolfgaming. Considering I am already an FH2 admin there I might try it out soon... maybe next year, snicker.

I think "coming out soon" is one of those relative terms...
Maybe 2012?
Maybe 2012?

Ill stick with 42 as long as possible
If we make prisons a living hell for them, then we might just be sending out devils once they are released. Cruel methods to achieve discipline are a thing of the past! So, keep on dancing! Byron F. Garcia.

Re: Forgotten Hope 2
I stuck with it as long as possable too Afro..
but its not funny the amout of reloading bf42 I had to do from desktop..
vista dont like it at all.. sure microsoft and ea/dice know all to well about the problems..
yet dont give a damn as its old and they had our money.. wanting us to move on to be milked again.
Reminds me of way back when I played quake 3 on Mplayer.com and they shut up shop hoping we would all migrate to game spy.
I stayed on till they pulled the plug typing "hell no we won't go" lol shame coz i loved that place the community friends ect..
I even used teamspeak in them days (no mrs wids to moan she cant hear the tv)
i noticed 1 thing though its wors on custom map day and bad on early maps uk time..
do i have to sat admin rites to every map and file in the whole game?? thats the case then its an awful state of afairs hence migration to bf2/fh2

Re: Forgotten Hope 2
I'm surprised they [EA, etc...) haven't taken notice of the following '42 still has, especially in light
of how seriously old it is. This in terms relative to the age of PC games that is.
There really hasn't been a game that could managed to bring us [JiF] together so effectively since then.
It says a lot about a game that we'd all be willing to play with the likes of Grimp and Waterboy
