What linux works best with Steam?

Post by Iron_Feliks »

I came home from work today (range day again) and my computer is flashing colors
and theres 324312432 instances of Internet Explorer open with bad stuff and stuff.
Nortons trying to work but my memory timed out and so I shut down and rebooted in Safe Mode.
I had a few trojans and a ton of spyware on my computer.
It took 2 hours to scan, fix, then clean up my registry and all the files.
My roommate took it upon himself to get on and download stuff without my permission.
great.
But I decided im tired of these things with Windows.
I was using Ubuntu, and used WINE to get Steam to work,
but with the updates its been putting out, last time I tried to play with Ubuntu,
it didnt work.
But it didnt matter cuz I left for the army;
now I need it back and I need help.
what about Cedega?
Do you still have to pay for that monthly and stuff?
What would be the best gamer-friendly linux out there, while still having a solid
work environment for myself?

Last I checked Cedega was still a pay service.

As for the Linux..the best distro I've had good vibrations with
was Fedora Core.
Version 8 is the latest greatest but I've messed with it since v.5.
And version 8 is geared more towards developers and gamers.
