Boy I wish I had some peanuts to bet on the game
I will bet one $1.00 Mass Instant Lottery ticket mailed to you (unscratched) against any $1.00 lottery ticket on the Sox.
Any takers? Is this Internet gambling?

Sorry. As a rule I never bet on my own teams. We have enough bad luck w/o me casting hexes on the Tribe/Browns/Cavs. My only exception is buying tickets in Vegas prior to seasons for a WS/Superbowl/NBA Championship.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:Boy I wish I had some peanuts to bet on the game

Oh and the Buckeyes but they aren't a Cleveland team per se.
FWIW I think Beckett will win game one (probably feels slighted that CC is considered the Cy Front Runner), Fausto!™ wins game two because he's Fausto!™, and the rest of the series is completely up for grabs. I like Dice K over Byrd/Westbrook but any of the 3-5 starters for either team can be shutout on or pummelled off and both these offenses are good enough to beat bad pitching. Shoulda be a good series though and the winner definitely is the odds-on-favorite for the WS.

I believe the Boston beat them 5 to 2 games this year (probably wrong). However long term history favors Cleveland.
I use to follow Cleveland when I lived in Cincy as the Reds were pretty sad then. Seems to me Cleveland has never been an easy team to beat. Always put up a good fight. Should be fun to watch Boston beat them

That looks a lot like an image a Yankee fan sent my way a week or so ago.

Re: Down go the Yankees...
Nope. That's right. But the only games that might indicate what this series will bring were a 1-0 Cleveland loss in a Sabathia/DiceK matchup, a 1-0 Cleveland win in a Fausto!™ versus Beckett, and a 6-4 Cleveland win with Byrd against DiceK. Three of Bostons wins were against Lee/Sowers - both of whom were sent down to the minors by the Indians. The fourth was against Westbrook but only a week after coming off the IR. That one could be an indication of problems for Westbrook but it took him a few starts to find his sinker again (and if you watched the Yanks series where the Indians beat the crap out of them in 4 you saw him with his sinker for the first few innings and then without it when he got lit up).[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:I believe the Boston beat them 5 to 2 games this year (probably wrong).

I think stress is what makes it all so exciting, it promotes Red Sox spirit!

If you like stress that much we'll trade you Joe Borowski for Papelbon straight up. We'll even give you back Papelbon after the series.[JiF]rIot wrote:I think stress is what makes it all so exciting, it promotes Red Sox spirit!
Hell if you REALLY want stress then just become a Cleveland sports fan. It isn't just a seasonal thing.

OMG, talk about fan stress.
1918, the team won its fifth World Series, and then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history. Many attributed the phenomenon to the "Curse of the Bambino" said to have been caused by the trade of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees in 1920. The drought was ended, and the "curse" reversed in 2004, when the team won their sixth World Series Championship

Re: Down go the Yankees...
Well sure but while that was going on you had the best team in basketball and just prior to winning the world series you had the best team in football and you had the Bruins. Heck Larry Bird to give you nearly a decade of offseason stress relievers.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:OMG, talk about fan stress.
In Cleveland it's been 43 years without ANY championships from 3 teams.
