I am fairly sure I speak for all when I say an emphatic NO

All (most?) of us have alternative platforms for playing games, whether PC, PS or XBox or even Wii. Many played different games and only came on BF42 recently whilst others played from the release years. JiF was originally formed by guys playing Team Fortress. But our one true love is BF42 and no matter the distractions it is very unlikely that we will ever abandon it.

The time may come but it will be a game of EPIC proportions that dislodges BF42 from the centre of JiF.

I did read today that BF3 is intended to be Cross Platform because the PC, PS3 and XBox versions have been built using the same game engine (FrostBite 2) the consoles will support 32 player Small-Medium size maps, whilst PC will be 64 player Small-Large maps.
But all three can play on the same server at the same time! - Thats the rumours anyway

WOW! I hope that they will be able to do that if Microsoft, Sony and Macintosh allows that :)

I've pre-ordered my 1943 with a 20% discount present I got from EA.
However the official is still listing the release as TBA.
So Q1 2010 looks like pie in the sky.

I still feel that just playing same 4 maps over & over is going to have a limited appeal after a while.
There will be an initial ground swell for 1943, but with such a limited collection & in fact the maps are all ones we've played before, then I will soon grow weary of it.

I think your discount should double for each Q it's delayed!

Rumor has it that the game has been delayed while developers work on what has been descriebd as a "mini-Rambo-Proof tank," whatever that means.

One could say the same for playing Gazala, Kursk, Husky, and Santa Croche all the time :) (that's usually the same rotation I see every night on the server, more or less).

i thought that about 43 on the PS, especially as they are all Pacific theatre maps, but to be honest I have yet to get bored with it. Partly because its a team game and you can squad up with 3 other ppl so you fight as a team, partly because of the medals and trophies (get 10 kills with a tank in 1 map, 50 kills total with explosives, shoot down 5 planes etc...) and the ranking system (PFC up to 5* General) that increases as you score and get medals. But also because of the sheer pleasure you cat from destroying anything in your way.
Sniper hiding behind a tree? Blow up the tree
Man in building by flag? Expack the walls and bring the whole thing down on top of him
Need a good sniping point? throw a nade in the corner of teh room and blow a hole in the wall, then hide in the opposite corner and shoot out
Enemy approaching your flag in force? use the Air Raid !!

Plus you can do this!

You may not play every day but you will return to it over and over, plus on PC there is the potential of user development of maps etc.. but I don't know how likely this is

It's the destructable environment that I think will change the game.
Imagine the scenerio Zouga described as a sniper in BF42?
You'd never know where they were!
As it is, we get to know the maps and all the "spots" - this alone will have a huge impact on tactics.
Then the descrtrucable environment, that's a dream I'm sure most all of us have had!
Sounds like a dreamland for someone like Mentat ;)

I can't wait!

I'll try an capture some footage of me playing to provide examples
but not this week - I'm off to see the mighty spurs crush the toffees as we continue our unstoppable drive for 4th spot and the millions that come with it - COYS

I refuse to pre-order a game in which the release date is "TBD" lol.
I'm working on solving the gas crisis.
