Here's a pretty good analysis of last night's episode. It really was a good episode, despite the death of my favorite character.

At a SF convention in Indianapolis in November 2006, actress Sackhoff noted that her filming for season 3, as well as her contract, ended with episode 16, "Maelstrom", strongly suggesting that Starbuck may be the central character that may be killed during season 3 as noted by producers Moore and Eick. However, this blog entry relates that Sackhoff appeared to deny this later.

C'mon Albie, "it's your destiny". I don't think her destiny was to explode/incinerate... After the "Arrow of Apollo" sub plot, I thought you would have more faith. Afterall, she might have just found a malfunctioning Stargate in that storm and is back at Stargate Atlantis right now trying to explain she is not a wraith.

They did very specifically show a shot of Starbuck with her hand on the ejection lever before her viper blew up. So they left themselves a big opening. All kinds of possibilities. I really don't think she's dead, cause they haven't explained what her special destiny is. I don't think her destiny was to commit suicide - that has to be a means to an end. Unfortunately we're not gonna find out until season 4.
They keep going back to the line "all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again." It has something to do with the relationship between humans and cylons. And somehow Baltar and Starbuck are in the middle of it. My vague theory is that the current humans were themselves originally created by another race, and they evolved from machines into their current form. Just like the cylons are evolving now. The original race is somehow related to the Lords of Kobol and the lost tribe on earth. I don't know how Baltar or Kara fit into it.

I have to disagree with you there Dave. Battling and leeing from robots would get old after a while. As would running around discovering new worlds, a la the various star treks. The show is as popular as it is because of its compelling characters and drama. If they did what you said, they wouldn't stand out from any other sci-fi show.

Albie - I counter with - yes it would have gotten old. I just wish it would have lasted more than 3 episodes!!!
And check the message boards about it's popularity. I think you'll find that just like here - their fans are dropping like a Battlestar in the atmosphere.

I'm more worried about how the last 10 episodes of SG1 are gonna play out...
remember, they were pretty screwed by the pooch against the Ori, unless they can get this Merlin weapon (cant wait to see the dragon! woohoo!!).

I think Boomer lands on the Kalahari and starts eating meerkats to survive. Not knowing she has found the earth.Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from the Meerkat Manor team in the US, the UK and on location from the Kalahari in South Africa.
I just want to say thanks to all our dedicated fans for helping make Meerkat Manor an incredible hit around the world.
I hope you liked season 2 of Meerkat Manor, which just finished premiering last Friday!
I wanted to tell you that we are already busy in the Kalahari filming season 3 with Flower and the rest of the Whiskers family.
I can't really tell you too much about what's been going on so far, because I can't spoil any of the surprises that you'll see when we premiere season 3 of Meerkat Manor next summer.
I can tell you this. Season 3 is now being shot in High Definition so the camera work and images will be even more amazing.
There are also some new trouble makers for the Whiskers to deal with and the Lazuli and Camandos aren't the only groups causing Flower and her family some stress in the Kalahari.
There have been lots of new births, and a lot of new mouths to feed.....and some of Flower's daughters are not making things any easier on her this year.
The meerkats open a stargate to the BSG near the end of season 3 and send her back.
