Re: Track of the day
Wow, Willie Nelson and Carlos Santana. Very nice.
OK, here is my favorite song of all time, by one of my favorite bands: This Ol' Cowboy, by The Marshall Tucker Band. I listened to this song over and over again in college, after falling hard for a girl who dumped me.
I saw them a bunch of times; I'm not sure how it is now, but back inthe 1970s and 1980s, bands jammed when they played live. You could your favorite song, played differently from concert to concert. Just like with this song -- you hear the fiddle, piano, guitar and flute all have their solos. It's like jazz southern rock.

Re: Track of the day
I too am totally digging this thread. I really enjoyed Stinky's personal story accompanying his Marshall Tucker post.
One of the first songs learned on guitar was this. The younger jiffers have probaly never heard of these guys, but they were pretty famous in their day. The bass player was electricuted on stage in Dallas around '75. The next year they played a free concert to repay the previous shortened one. Heres the ticket stub from that event I attended (top right).
A couple of months back, I walked by my 16 year old daughters room and heard this playing on her stereo. I went in and asked her what she what station she was listening to. She said her ipod. I was shocked. She said she had the whole "Demans & Wizards" disc on there & really liked it.
Rock on Baby, rock on.

Re: Track of the day
Tookie, I remember when my daughter was about 13-14 and was talking to a friend about music. She asked her friend what she listened to and the girl replied "Someone you never heard of - Led Zepplin". Her friend was deflated when my daughter answered "My dad has all their records". It's cool to see kids find great music from previous eras. Great music is great music!

Dang-nam-it!
Every time I come here to post a video, I get sidetracked. Today its Shellshocked's fault for posting Lindsey Buckingham. Me & the misses have seen this dude well over a hundred times. We catch every show possable. He's playing tonight, but my wife has to work so I'm not sure if I'm going or not. Heres part of Monte playing "World Turning". Hopefully I'll be able to post a tune from tonight.

That video was shot at ex-cowboy special teams coach Joe Avezzano's bar. Heres a pic of Monte, me, my wife & Coach Joe.
