New problem....
New problem....
We've been having a problem with vanishing chickens. Finally found out what is taking them with the use of a motion activated camera.
I just came inside, I've been camped out on top of the coop with my 12 gauge. It was smart enough not to come around while I was there, saw a few other animals though... but mainly bugs. Hopefully I've plugged his entrance up so at least we won't lose anymore chickens, we're down to 14 from about 28 at the start of summer.

My brother had the same problem when he had chickens. They will not give up. He lost almost all his chickens. 9mm finally did the bandits in one at a time, but he gave up on chickens shortly after that. You may want to put out some traps.

The traps seem to be the best idea after a little research. Luckily my father has one that should work, so I baited it with marshmallows (a recommended bait) and we'll see. He did show up last night after I gave up, but I'm happy to say he didn't get anymore chickens.

Well, it's clear what you need is a laser triggered sentry gun![JiF]Mike wrote:The traps seem to be the best idea after a little research. Well I figured I might catch someone...another recommended bait is Peanut Butter which I tried last night..guess what kind I used. Still no luck catching it yet..but on the good side, we haven't lost anymore chickens either.

Nah, I sent Tissue in first. He tripped the trap I got the goodies. Mike let him go the next morning. I wonder if he will fall for it again after his hand heals so I can get the PB.

Grimp must be getting old. I can remember when he would not have to wonder about something like this. Of course I won't remember and I'll trip the trap again. Sheesh! There is no hope for Grimp. Poor old Grimp.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:[JiF]Crash wrote:Oh great... Soon you will have trapped Grimp and Tissue... sigh[JiF]Mike wrote: so I baited it with marshmallows (a recommended bait)

Re: New problem....
I hate raccoons. I never did like chickens (grew up on a farm) they stink. We had a bear in the garbage last weekend, then I saw a fox and a skunk. raccoons leave my parent's chickens alone probably because we fortified the coup and pen but it may be because of the local bear.
