I developed quite a few years ago what I thought was a squirrel proof bird feeder.
This year we seemed to have an abundance of yard clowns (squirrels). One finally got the nerve to make the long jump to the feeder. He could not hang on, but succeeded in knocking seeds all over the ground. Apparently the fall was not painful enough. He has been seen doing it three times now and the seed is going down very fast. I have moved it farther away from his launching spot. We will see if it tries again. So my wife got me a new t-shirt. I scanned the picture off the front.

Haha, we've been having that problem to. When we see squirrels on the feeder now we let the dogs out and they run away. They don't come around that much anymore, but the ones who decide to commit to the task do make a mess. There must be a better way to stop them!
I'm thinking of the ol' GI Joe defence:

Re: Feed the Birds
I was getting a kick out of the squirrel voices and the slow motion segments. xx
How much do one of those cost?

How do you know you are getting old?[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:$70 to $100. I bit much, but they gotta be fun to watch, so maybe its worth it
1. You watch bird feeders for excitement
2. You post about people watching bird feeders for excitement
I like the GI Joe pic.

Re: Feed the Birds
I saw a program a while back, maybe a year or so?
Probably PBS or Discovery.
In any case, it was all about making the perfect, squirrel-proof
bird feeder and had amazing footage of some pretty impressive
complex problem solving on the part of the squirrels.
They appear to be as smart as a primate on that front.
Anyone else see it? I'd love to see it again...
