Ordered a New Toy

I ordered a Nokia 770 the other day.
Spose to be here on the 5th. They had/have them at Buy.com for $139.

Interesting.. It looks pretty cool.

Although, it looks like they use their own OS which means little 3rd-party software.

The motivation behind maemo and its availability to the open source community is to stimulate mobile Linux technology development and adoption.

This is My first attempt at handwriting a Post.
This is yet another StuPid right handed device.

Right or left, it's still a pretty cool little device. Nice size and quick enough. The automatic word completion works pretty well. It even remembers phrases you entered before. Screen is 200dpi, so nice and sharp. Battery lasted about two days with pretty heavy 'new gadget ' usage. WIFI is pretty good too, picking up stuff I don't see on the laptops. Happy with mine so far. Nice toy, and extendable if you´re a bit of a linux weenie

Its so small its hard for me to read (old age) the desktop is actually very sharp. I just need my glasses or a magnifying glass

Cool! Unfortunately, the advantages of minaturization seem to be offset by the increasing need for eye magnification. We keep reading glasses stashed all over the house. We buy the kind that have feet so its a constant search to see where they are congregating. When we can plug the display into our head (wireless of course) all will be solved.

I found it handy for storing the web info pages of geocaches so I don't have to print them out when I go.
GAim and mail are useful on it too when out and about as long as you can find a wireless connection.
I need to get a tunnel connector working on it so I can connect to work with it.

I put in some hidden night vision web cameras around my house and found that they are actively moving at night.
If you see them moving during the day shoot them they are probably rabid.
I think if I could put a small GPS tracking device on them I could keep track of them on my Internet tablet.

Ok so questions:

Will skype work? I see that it does for the 2007 OS.

Is there an IM program that works on it?

How is web browsing? usable?

Voice: No Skype yet. Gizmo works, Google Talk, SIP client
Instant message: GAIM, Goggle, Gizmo, jabber
Web browsing is usable, not great. It uses Opera and some things/sites just don't work. JiFF works

Just started messing with Gizmo. You can use Gizmo for VoIP, AIM, MSN and Yahoo Messenger.

I also installed DOOM. Remember when you could not afford a PC to play Doom Now you can play it on a little toy
