bomb damage
does anyone know the shape that the splash damage of a bomb takes? it seems to me that if i am within about 30 ft of the ground when the bomb explodes, i take at least half damage, but unless i physically hit a tank or jeep or any other vehicle with a bomb, it only takes marginal damage. I have had a friend sit in a stationary Sherman tank while i dropped bombs at him, and hitting the ground 5 ft in front of him caused him 30% damage, only 5 FEET he was in 3rd person view so he verified. i cant seem to find the shape of the actual splash damage anywhere. from experience, it seems it would have to be about a 60-90 degree cone with the tip being the point where bomb meets ground.
That's right, these posts are the result of the dedicated work of me and a room full of monkeys working diligently on our typewriters.

Re: bomb damage
I've read that armor doesn't actually take splash damage - that it takes indirect damage from being pushed into things but no damage from the bomb splash itself - but I'm not sure I believe that.
The shape of the splash is probably a uniform (or maybe a little flattened) sphere and doesn't really deform to take into account things like the angle that the bomb dropped at. Or, more likely, it's a set of spheres. Like, maybe, if you are inside the smallest sphere, you take 80-100% of the hurt. If you're in the next size up one, you take 60-80%, etc..

Re: bomb damage
If you are no where near it, you take 0% damage...
lesson to be learned...
don't be near a bomb when it hits....

You might want to check with someone who makes custom maps for BF42. I know Chaser does, but he hasn't been on the forum in quite a while. If you check out some other BF42 sites they may have a modding section. Timmay! is probably pretty close with his description.

Careful. You should be glad he didn't say you were PROBABLY his next victim on the battlefield...[JiF]Timmay! wrote:Probably? PROBABLY?!?!?!111[JiF][AARP]Tissueman wrote: Timmay! is probably pretty close with his description.
