Hello and Thanks

Post by [JiF]Brick »

Thanks for a good server and group of players.

Special thanks to LtWaterboy for hearing my requests during play!
He has added maps back and switched back to co-op at my request.

It seems there are not many co-op mode servers and even though the bots can be frustating at times, it is good to have them during the day when there are not many players.

Questions:
How can I tell if there is going to be a "conquest night" with different maps that we don't see much like aberdeen?
Do these type events get posted in the forums?

Do you keep statistics and scoring by player? If so, are they viewable on-line?

Thanks Again,
Brick

Heya Brick. Good to see you in the forums.

The short answer on the conquest v. coop is that we occasionally have an organized BF1942 night and it'll be published in the 1942 forum. There are only around 10-15 Jiffers who still play 1942 so it's rare we attempt to organize stuff. More often you'll see a one-map-at-a-time switch to conquest when the server gets more than half full and a JiF admin is online and in the mood for Conquest. But by default once the JiF admin is offline it reverts back to the normal map sequence. There are enough problems with Coop bot-balance when there are a lot of humans on that you almost have to switch to it to keep it fair.

There are also two conquest maps in the normal rotation (Phillipines and something else) so those can pop up even when there aren't enough players to make it interesting. If you happen to drop in on the server at that point and it's unpopulated (or not very many people) you can always vote to go to a coop map.

There are a few threads related to the map rotation in the 1942 forum so you can check those out. If you have recommendations or requests we'll always read 'em. I think most of us have grown comfortable with the bots especially once we realized they're almost as easy to kill as Waterboy... ;)

Ow!! Cheap shot!!!

Just ignore Sly - he's from Cleveland...enuff said!!!

I've tried to help the admints out by managing the coop & conquest changes, since I have been on LOA from work for a year, and its the ONLY PC game I play.

To add to Sly's comments though, as I see a large group of live players, I just ask if they want to just switch to conquest instead. So, we try to keep it pretty informal and subject to what the majority wants (sorry, Democracy says majority rules...heehee).

FYI. Use to be Thurs or Fri nites we did conquest, but found, like you said, many people liked having the coop out there.

Always open to meet the needs out there!!

ps. Always a pleasure playing with you on the server, Brick!!
