Big-J's Donut Thread!!!!!!

Post by [JiF]bigjohnson »

Finally I am able to post a thread that has to do with donuts; I feared I would never again be able to post about something so popular. Well anyways, This is a hot topic in Connecticut about posting calories on menus and there has been a bill introduced to require it at major restaurants:

“…At Dunkin' Donuts, should a dieter choose the banana walnut muffin or gorge on two jelly doughnuts? Only 10 percent chose the right low-calorie answer: the doughnuts, with a total of 420 calories. Thirty-eight percent chose the muffin (540 calories), while 24 percent picked a sesame bagel with cream cheese (570 calories), and 20 percent opted for a 24-ounce strawberry-banana smoothie (550 calories)…”

So by reading this part of the article, I have decided to go on the Jelly donut diet and see how it goes.

Excellent plan. I need to investigate if Boston Kremes are better than Jelly. It may take several months of intensive hands on testing, but I'm ready for the challenge. :D

Lower calories is fine...but I suspect it's the fat/transfat that you have to worry about :(

Consider this, the recommended daily calorie intake per day is about 2300 calories for males with desk jobs. So those 2 jelly donuts at 840 calories just blew about a third of your daily intake. :)

I just looked that number up....I didn't realize it was so low!

Yep around 2000 calories. Big J reports 2 jelly donuts are 420. 2 jelly are better than one smoothy, so you can have 8 to 10 a day if you don't eat anything else. Then you will die. Funny as soon as I finished my first post in this thread my wife who is always complaining about my weight brought me a Boston Crème from Nick D's donuts. The confusion never stops :!:

Actually, was just on the other night (as part of documentary on transfats & obesity). Couple different sources verified it.
For avg male to MAINTAIN their weight is 2500 caloric intake per day.

So now you have an additional 200-500 to play with donuts... ;)

ps. anyone see those shows on TLC called "I Eat 33,000 cal a day" or "The World's Heaviest Man"? Holy Geesh, Batman - now that's ALOT of donuts!!!

Just wanted to start some controversy... ;)

I like doughnut, but only because my last name is Hough. That said I think there are 12 different ways to pronounce ough.
We use "uff" so it would be a donuff.
