Funny story bout that Grimp, it was three years back when I attempted the same thing...I attempted to surf on a large piece of ice...to my surprise it could not be done, and I walked out of the creek with my pants covered in ice...it was like walking in cardboard pants (and cold).

Back when I was a kid that brook was over flowing with native trout. The state put in a flood control project and after a few years the trout were gone
Believe it or not about 3 years back we were catching trout near the deep sides of the brook down near the school, we also used to try to stock the river w/ sun fish from Dean Park, we were hoping thats somehow they would lay eggs and bring life to the river...I dont think it worked...
One time, I am not sure if it was that brook or another. One kid fell in and was pushed under the ice. We could see him floating down gasping for air. We could not break the ice. Fortunately he was pushed to an area clear of ice and got out. Very scary.

The trout down by the school are state stocked and pretty much just stay there and wait for food
