Origins of your nickname?

I've been asked if I'm a real farmer, and the answer is, um, no. Your network TV censors are to blame. When the Die Hard movie with Samual L. Jackson is on regular TV, Sam L. says "Melon Farmer" quite a bit, and there you are. I'd love to hear how some of you came up with your nicknames.

Lt Waterboy = I do a bunch of water treatment for work. I am the "so-called" expert in this area for us (boy, I should be an actor instead since I fake this so well!! heehee!).
Waterboy from Adam Sandler movie and I run around at work quoting some of his lines while working on the systems.

Lt is just a rank I put on to make it more official for Battlefield, the only real online game that I play. Sounded funny with the waterboy portion

I work in the same place Waterboy and Kelly do. I've been around tissue grade paper machines for 30 years.

My first nick was Ice on irc (sometimes still refered to it). After noticing it was getting used too much, I decided to change it sometime in '98.

I just looked around my desk and saw a CD and decided to use compact. I ended up replacing the O with a zero. I don't remember why. I think it was because the nick compact was registered on DALnet at the time so I put a zero in it and registered. Stuck with me ever since.

Unfortunately, it was well before the days of random kids using "leet speak" so it was normal I guess back then, but now due to this factor, people don't take me seriously sometimes and it is quite annoying. Due to that factor, I am also known as "Rhykin" (pronounced rye-kin). It is derived from the book "Catcher in the Rye", the first part leading to the misspelling of the word Rye as "Rhy". The second part is taken from the word Kin, meaning family, resulting of course in: Rhykin.

My name changed back in the summer of '04 if I can recount correctly. My old name was Sp00nMan back in cs 1.6 after the song by Soundgarden, but everytime I went on a server everyone would try to sing the chorus when they saw my name and it started to annoy me. I was playing Halo one time and was doing rather well, well enough to get a "running riot" and I thought hey, I should make that my new nickname. I wanted a name that was short and sweet though, so I just kept it riot and capitalized the "i" for unique identification. And from then on, thats how it had stayed, and the rest...is history...

Mine's a character from a book...I used to use
it on a mud about a thousand years ago...it stuck.

Albie cause my last name is Albert. And Damned, well, that's a long story. As an infant, I was found abandoned lying on top of Hoover Dam. I was taken in and raised by the dam workers as one of their own. For the first 18 years of my life, I called the bowels of the dam my home. I decided to honor my heritage the best way I know how, by making it part of my name.

Oh, and I changed the second "m" in Dammed to an "n" for creativity.

My name came from playing hockey, I played as a defencemen my freshman year, and i walked on the ice with a John "Beezer" Vanbiesbrouck. Everyone thought it was funny that a defencemen was wearing a alstar Goalie Jersey from the florida panthers. And now i am know throughout the school as Beezer, or Beez, Or Beezer the please, Or VanBeezer. Funny story if you follow hockey at all.

I remember back during my senior year of college, in 1995, I did little except play NHL '95 for Sega Genesis. My friends and I played an entire season, where we each had a few teams. My one friend had the Panthers with Vanbiesbrouck. The game would pick random players to be hot and cold before each game. Vanbiesbrouck was already one of the best goalies, and scoring off a good goalie in that game was really hard. When Vanbiesbrouck was hot, you were almost guaranteed to be shut out. Which led to my saying: "Nothing beats a hot Beezer"

Sandretzky is not a nick, its my last name. Ive never been one to "make a name for myself". They call me Sandy and that works for me.

I enjoy the literal version of my name plus Sly is a name. Meaningful and easy to say worked for me. The other option was Brute Force Surprise Attack!. It just doesn't roll of the tongue like Sly Gambit...
