Cell Phone Hacking

I spent a number of hours last night working with my Verizon Motorola Razor V3m. I flashed it with an Alltell flash file and reprogrammed it for Verizon. I now have all the functions the V3m is supposed to have, such as the ability to play mp3's, bluetooth file transfers and total control over the skin of the phone plus much more. If anyone has thought about doing this..or never heard of it I can provide you with some links to get you started. Be warned though...it's probably one of the most complicated things I have ever done and can render your phone useless. Just thought I would mention it in case there a few others crazy enough to try this.

Does that work with the regular V3, which is what I think I have. Can't tell since it doesn't say what model it is on the phone itself.

On mine the exact model is on a sticker under the battery. It says V3m. You can also do this to a V3c you just can't use the Micro-SD slot stuff as it don't got one. I put 1GB in mine.

I got a V3 Cingular Razor someone was giving away at work. I made an attempt to get it unlocked through Cingular so I could put in my ATT sim.
They will do it, but you have to meet certain requirements. You have to have paid full price, have a Cingular receipt and have been with them for a certain amount of time. I got all the stuff from the original owner and they finally sent me the unlock code. Then I found out that I had given them the code on the box and receipt, but the phone had been replaced under warranty once and the IMEI codes did not match. Well that left me with 3 choices, hack it myself (kinda worried about wrecking it), take it to the store it was purchase at up in NH or go to a Cingular store and see what they could do. I took it to the store and explained the problem.
They said I would probably have to take it to the store it was purchased at, but for $15 they would unlock it for me.
$15 well spent

I am still tempted to us the hacking tools to play with it some more though

I have also heard that some phone accessory booths at malls will hack it for you for a small fee.

Just found another hack (for alltel firmware only) that enables the phone to act as a usb mass storage device for drive letter access to the SD card. Makes getting music onto the phone SO much easier! Can also easily grab photo's that have been taken with the camera. I really can't believe how much this phone is capable of, and how much Verizon disabled.
