Origin, Punkbuster and the meaning of life

I was on the JiF server the other night and watched as a dozen people tried to join and got kicked. Hmmmm, Curiouser and curiouser!
The Origin version of BF1942 does not have PB support and people using this version won't be able to join our server. How much value do we get from enabling an unsupported anti-cheat system? Would we be better served if we disabled it?

PB should be off. Must have been turned back on somehow. But your right, we can't use PB anymore if we want more players.

Maybe it got turned back on when I switched the server to EoD and back

Sorry for my delayed response, been sick the last few days and not on the computer much. I think a restart is required to enable/disable PB.

For what it's worth, the few times I've been on BF42 in the past month or so, I've noticed the same thing - players joining and being kicked almost immediately.
