Re: Compatability issue for BF42
Nah Windows 7 handles BF42 just fine most of the time. I've run it on 2 W7 machines now & occasionally get the crash to desktop, but most of the time it runs just fine. I did notice last time that it crashed after a load of vanilla maps then when it came to a RTR the crash occurred. Just coincidence? Don't know.
However don't be put off. I'll admit it did take a bit of tweaking following things that have been posted, but now it runs mostly stable.

Hi Blood try this
right click on your BF1942 shortcut
go to properties
go to compatability
select Windows XP Service Pack 2
select OK
go back to your desktop shortcut
right click on it
select Run as Admin
game should run fine

Daft,
ignore my post reply in other thread.
Ok - so set it to service pack # TWO, instead of #3? that is what I will try and do then.
I already run as admint, so that really aint gelping...maybe going from 3 to 2 SP will.
willing to try anything

I use the free version of Avast!
Brick talked about turning off my Windows firewall. tried to turn off the public one, and that didnt help.
Oh well, guess i just got to fight my way thru it
