I have been DVR'ing COMBAT! on a cable channel called MeTV (a lot of old shows).
I remember watching it as a kid.

Pretty good plots and action. There are 152 episodes.
They do a real good job showing the period weapons.
Every now and then they have Germans firing a Browning .30 cal machine gun, but most of the time they get it right with a MG42
Back then the commercials were only 30 seconds to a minute, so you get about 55 minutes per episode(unlike the 40-45 you get now).
I think you can watch it on YouTube or Hulu too.

Ya, as a kid I use to sit glued to the TV watching that. I DVR them now and watch them on and off. Still enjoy them. Chip was one of my heros and the name I use for BF42. Doc got his nic from the show too. What he didn't know at the time was Doc does not shoot people. He just sits around saying we gotta get this guy back or he is not gonna make it sarge!!!

Thanks, Grimp.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:Chip was one of my heros and the name I use for BF42.
I never knew his first name until now. He is always referred as "Sgt. Saunders" or just "Saunders" in the show.
What's Lt. Hanley's first name?

It was Gil. He had the cool little carbine.
The cable station MeTV is running them.

I keep it next to my bed with a 30 round banana clip in it.
Makes a nice little home defense weapon

Cool. I bought a semi-auto 22 when I was younger. I think it was a Ruger with a squirrel engraved on the stock. I use to pretend it was the same.
Use to jam a lot, but I had added a scope and it was pretty accurate. I had posted a picture once with one of the bullets embedded in a quarter. Don't remember the distance now, but I remember it was long. It eventually got broken in half strapped to the back of my ATV and flying down the logging roads in Maine

Ya, I still have the quarter. It was a miracle shot so I have always kept it
