You've got to be !#@$ (pooping) me

And pooping was not my first choice of word...what total BS if you've already been playing for hours and hours to get those unlocks and you can just lay out $39.99 for the "Ultimate Bundle" and get the "Kit Short Cut Bundle", "Coop Shortcut Pack" and " Vehicle Short Cut Bundle"...

UNLOCK WEAPONS AND GEAR

Looking for a faster way to get some of the weapons and gear that you’ve seen Battlefield 3 veterans using? We’re introducing shortcut kits that will help you get caught up to more experienced players. Each kit unlocks weapons and equipment for a specific class, vehicle set, or from the co-op challenges. You can also unlock more at once and save money; Grab a kit bundle and get a set of kits at a discount.

Whether you’re looking to get a jump start with a class you’ve been neglecting or just want to get your hands on some advanced weaponry, it’s the way to go.
You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Meh... if they want to pay money (and be stupid) to take away one of the fun things of the game let 'em. On the plus side I heard that none of the attachments come with the guns. Some of the first guns are better than the later ones anyway so it's pretty much a scam.

Their game -- their rules. I've never been a big fan of EA/DICE from a business perspective, but they do make some great games. I know some people who refuse to ever buy another one of their games because of stuff like this.

You know me, Kelly. I'm too cheap to buy something even if it means I die more. :) ;)

I got upset about that too Kelly. But then I thought that if I was going to ever switch over to the PC version, I'd hate to have to spend another 160 hours ranking up my vehicles to stand a fighting chance against all you level 52 colonels.

I've seen more and more skillful PFCs and SFCs with ranks of 3 or 10 that have been dominant in the game recently. They've gotta be recent platform converts as they're usually killing me with guns that aren't the M16 and AK47. And they're not cheap kills either. It's also why I understand them spacing out the expansion packs through the rest of this year. If it means that EA will support the game longer than a year, as much as they drive me nuts, I'll get on board.

It's also for the people who don't play that often and would never rank up and unlock all the extras. Some of the people only have a few hours a week to play and it could be daunting to see all those guns and extras that they will never get to try. In a way it keeps players on the servers that might just give up when they see that they would have to play around 150 hours to unlock all that stuff. For those people I can understand since they bought the game and want to try out all the equipment but otherwise wouldn't get a chance to so it's kind of fair that way. In my opinion it's not the gun that you use it's the way that you use it anyway. So for those people it keeps the game fresh for longer and keeps the servers full for the next year or so. Should be funny though when the DLC's come out and they have to unlock those guns that come with it (no proof but I'm assuming they will come locked either way). Lots of fumers on the forums! :hihi:

I gotta say I am in favour of this type of thing.

I dislike the whole 'unlocks' thing with weapons etc... one of my favourite things about '42 is that a noob could buy the game tomorrow and be on an equal capability level with any long term player - the deciding factor would be knowledge of the terrain and skill level, not a better gun, multiple squad specialisations, lights, lasers, ammo type, scope, extended mag...ad infinitum

that allows people to engage with the game for longer instead of coming into a new game and being so far behind the curve that you end up getting disheartened and quit.

so if people can just buy the kit - why not, they will be the ones who live with the knowledge that they didn't 'earn' the upgrades.
