It does enable you to get to them if you are not a support though. It is going to make using the mortar a mutch more dangerous occupation. It also means that if you attack back you are not panning a home base spawn with your fire, so no mortar spawn rape. It will be easier to spot those that are doing this, but make it safer for spawning at home.
I got tired of trying to read all the tweeks & what they all meant for the game as there are so many of them. Apparently it's a 1gb patch.
I guess it will be a wait & see how the different classes are affected by the changes, you never know I might go back to mining straight after patch as how many people are going to forget that they have to be spotted to be visible on the mini map. Could be good for a while, especially if I put them in those places where they just can't be seen in the 1st place. Little hint on the ramps on Nosher Canals you can place the mines in the water shallows. Also use destruction rubble, if you drop a mine on a chunk of material it disappears underneath. , this one can be good for a while on the Hilltop flag of Caspian.

Do away with snipers and you dont need mortars. :viva: I am so sick of people crying about the use of mortars. Snipers are far worse. You all have seen them, they bury themselves in a rock and can shoot but can't be shot. I would rather them fix the bug where you can shoot over something that it is obviouse your weapons aren't high enough to do. You try to shoot at the top of someones head and he kills you easily.

Ha, I just noticed the "best weapon" graphic on my BF3 banner finally switched from M249 to M320. I'm now officially a Master Noob-Tuber. :shoot:

I D/L and installed the patch yesterday and I managed to get a few mine kills - but all of my weapon loadouts were messed up - every gun had reverted to 4x scope and laser sight
it may only be a PS issue but I found it difficult to change the loadouts and even to swap weapons - it kept reselecting the previous one
Also has the extended mag mod been removed as I can no longer select it for weapons where I previously had it as an option - am so used to it that I kept dying cos I forgot to reload

quite frustrating - anyone else experienced any issues?

I lost all my unlock weapons which was quite irritating - finally figured out it was because I needed to redownload the Karkand expansion because they tweaked that too. Simple matter except that's another 1gb download on top of the 1gb patch. Ugh. Also, the stinger is almost completely ineffectual now. It's got a radius of what seems like 100 feet for a lock-on… which stinks because the only way to get a kill with them is to lock on, fire and make pilot use his flares, and then get another quick lock and fire again before he regenerates so you can get a hit. Repeat x1 and you can take down a jet or heli every time… or rather you used to be able to.

It's going to take some time to relearn strategies on what works. Hopefully these changes are all for the better, but playing tonight on the patch was a new and very frustrating experience.

Last night I was unable to deply the mortar on 3 separate maps. It could have been a server-related restriction. Guess I'll see tonight.
