Armor versus Foot

Post by [JiF][AARP]Tissueman »

Interesting round tonight with JiF'ers on opposite sides. One side was using armor and the other was staying mainly on foot. It was a fun cat and mouse battle with the armor having a bit of an edge. That said, it was so much fun when we did manage to take out a tank. Doc, Jimbo and I will sing songs of this epic battle around the campfire. Good game all.

It was fun. Wish I could have stayed longer.
One thing I have found important with the armor, it is very important to have a top gunner who can watch for
the foot soldier trying to get you with a rocket or C4.
If the gunner is an engineer and he works well with the driver it is very difficult to destroy a tank.

Ya that was fun, it was like a game in and of itself to stop the jihad jeeps laden with c4 before we go boom. It reminds me know of a twisted version of hockey where the tanks were both goal and goalie :)

It was impressive and fun to watch. From my viewpoint it was the Gib/Gav/Mini tank death repelling the barbarian hordes plus Doc. They did a pretty good against the hordes but had only limited success against Doc. I forgot all about the email I was answering and before I knew it I was jumping around behind Matthew yelling instructions - then I realized he wasn't listening and didn't need my help anyway. =sigh=
I don't know which hurt worse - the not listening part or didn't need my help part?. Regardless - the laughter coming over TS and Matthew's own laughter indicated the evening was a success. I know he had a great time and if the truth be known so did I. Thx.

:P Badger, just bite the bullet. Build another machine, come and join us, and learn from Grimp. Let your kids win. :) You know it would be fun. :medit:

Yep must say that I thought it was great fun. It made a change from the constant moving round the map trying to cap flags. As Gib says we were almost inventing our own game within the game. I guess the fact that we were playing on a 16 player only server helped as it meant that there wasn't masses of other people trying to swarm us at the same time.
Of course is was all J i F! :D

Hmmm, let me think - the other night Mini went off to bed so I decided to give it a bit of a go. At the end of the round I was 0 & 17 and had amassed some 53 points. 50 of those points were awarded for the squad spawning on me. Yuck! 3 points for some kind of suppression assist (reflexes and nerves of steel, the guy never had a chance!). Apparently in BF3 my only useful function is as a spawning bed. Not very masculine. Don't get me wrong, I did some things when I was younger but there were some lines I simply will not cross. Some of those lines were gender based, others were species based - I think becoming a spawning bed might cross both lines and believe me latex camouflage is not all its cut out to be. I’m not ribbing you about that.

No, as an observer I am undefeated, I have Docs number and Gib is under my thumb. I can say things like “Oh, you should have had him, I would have” or “what do you mean you didn’t see him? He was as clear as day” and sound both believable and authoritative at the same time. Playing means the death of yet another portion of my rich fantasy life.
No, every time I’ve played I swear I can almost hear Danny Kaye singing “…the King! The King is in the all together. But all together the all together. He's all together as naked as the day that he was born.” (That line should separate the boys from the men and the men from the really old men).

I miss playing... :( Life has gotten very busy lately. If I can get in, it is usually only for a few minutes. Maybe this weekend I'll be able to join a little.

Life has a habit of doing that. Hope you can squeeze in some playing time this weekend.

Well last night I decided to try out the lazer attachment while I was playing engineer. I'm kind of 'old school' - don't fly no helicopter, don't fly no jets, don't need that fancy equipment - but I noticed that all the cool kids have been using them. Plus I regularly get waxed in head up 1-1 engagements so I thought I'd give it a shot. I discovered that it does help. I've moved from practically hopeless where my main purpose is to let everyone else know that bad guys are around because I've been taken down again to mediocre. You don't even have to right click in close quarters - just get that red dot on the bad guy.

Another fun night. Gav was supplying Doc with Javelins. Mini was recon and I was trying not to get too distracted by that beautiful red shiny thing on my weapon. Jimbo was in another squad C4'ing tanks. I think Gav C4'ed a couple also. Smuckers was on the other side proving one determined JiF'er can make a squad of JiF'ers on the other side very nervous. A frequent TS call was "Smuckers is back, I'm down".

Tissue,

the laser attachment provides an accuracy assist bonus when firing from the hip so it does make it easer to hit the enemy (or in your case, the odd squad member)

I am jealous reading this thread as I am in no position to get hold of a PC capable of running the game (unless I install Win 7 on my work laptop and pretend I 'lost' it)

Aww, Zouga :keep: we'll get in some quality PS3 time on Saturday after I get done with chores around the house.

FWIW - I'm a bit jealous too of all the descriptions of the PC fun. Itching to see how I'd stack up against the rest of you guys again.
