Back in the Saddle Again

Post by [JiF][AARP]Tissueman »

After a long hiatus from on-line gaming, I returned last night to play BF3. Jimbo, Gav, Stinky and I wreaked havoc in a very well oiled machine. I served a very important role in our tightly run squad by calling out:

1. I just got killed by someone somewhere
2. Sorry (Jimbo, Gav, Stinky), I saw him, but didn't get him in time
3. Is that you Grimp? ........Grimp? .......Grimp? (followed by Jimbo explaining that Grimp wasn't playing)
4. Ooooo, pretty.

I think I shot a full clip at a blinking yellow traffic light on one map thinking it was an enemy. Probably was a sniper in disguise.

So far I like the game though I'm not really a fan of the unlock model. I should be allowed to be incompetent with the best weapons because when you get to my age, one doesn't know if one will live long enough to unlock all that stuff. I plan to buy the expansion pack later today and will spend some time playing now. Looking forward to seeing my fellow JiF'ers in game. It's been too long.

Re the unlocks, one word of advice: play support, get trhe M249 and stick with it. It will become your best friend, especially when paired with the mortar. Plus, you can rack up big points by constantly dropping ammo packs near teammates.

Stinky's right and if you want to rack up points quickly find a Metro map so you can drop ammo packs in the Subway at the choke points. Cha ching, Cha ching!

Maybe you should have kept the other copy of the game the one you have is obviously defective.

Tissue provided a valuable resource last night!
He made a real good spawn point near the coal face because he kept his head down a lot whilst others of us ran round like headless chickens getting shot. :pada:
Using him as the spawn got extra points for squad spawn so hopefullywe'll get him buffed up quicker. :D
So good to play & talk to you after all this time Tissue!
Look forward to many more

Thank you, Gav. It was a lot of fun. What I was doing was napping. It's a defensive concept I wholeheartedly endorse. :)

By the way, I've also shot a traffic and street lights. They look a lot like the sniper's light.

Last night Stinky was a sniper and I spawned on him several times playing the role of the guy who yells "we're over here". Need to rethink that strategy. :)

I'm enjoying the game a lot more than I anticipated. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to be on a map with a bunch of JiF'ers.

Ha! That's like the line we had for my high school football team: "We may be small, but we're slow." Our biggest lineman was 170 lbs. I played center at 155 lbs, and the guard next to me was 140 lbs.

I fired over 20 shots at a SOFLAM laser designator thinking it was a sniper with a laser sight and didn't hit a thing - then got killed by a tank

One thing hasn't changed, if you happen to be the worst player on a map you are more likely to get kicked to make room for a member. In a way it was a blessing as I really wasn't contributing much on that map other than dying. I figured out last night how to use unlocks and implemented a few that made the game a lot more fun. Think I'll take Stinky's advice and try support for a while. It will be a change from throwing health around.

I've found the M249 is one of the easiest guns in the game to use, equally good at short and long ranges.

I started playing engineer last night mainly because it was 'next in line'. I just stuck with it to rank up a bit in that class. I'll have to try support next. I'm starting to pick up some toys now and it does make the game more fun. I played assault a bit too and it was nice to revive a couple of people.

Oh, and be careful if you get in a jeep with Grimp. He makes his own roads and has no real appreciation for physics. :) I think he might have been texting while driving.

I personally like the engineer and assault class. Mostly for the javelin and m320 unlocks (although the defib is nice). I am trying to advance the recon so that I can unlock the soflam but having a hard time with this as I am a horrible shot and the sniper is not my best class...

I find the engineer kind of the best all round class as long as there is someone on your team that has a soflam and can work it. The engineer can take on infantry, tanks and air vehicles.
