I wouldn't worry about it. Clive Cussler already had Kurt Austin of NUMA, or was that Dirk Pitt? (I can't really tell these two apart.) look into the problem in "Polar Shift" back in 2007. He solved the problem by page 315 and was in bed with the heroine three pages latter. So all's right with the world.

i just read an awful book that reckoned that Atlantis was hidden away under antarctica and will return to save the earth when massive solar flares cause the poles to swap round - it was all connected the pyramids in mexico and egypt apparently...
