tags in game ?

I've noticed in some games I see what looks like clan tags or something like with ( ) and something between the bracetts how is that possible ?

IDK seals - on BFBC2 you could enter your clan tag, but a lot of ppl seem to have just incorporated theirs into their IDs - maybe you can do it on Battlelog?

Seals - go to battlelog and edit profile you can change your avatar and also create a clan tag - up to 4 characters.
Also I have approved yourself and Trogdor as members which may trigger the tag on PSN as it is set to [JiF]
