To anyone who is wavering about getting this game

Post by [JiF]Lt Gav »

I know I only played 1 map last night, but I would thoroughly recommend this.
The map I played was an urban setting. It was really well laid out with lots of ways to navigate around. You were not stuck with there only being 1 route to get between flags. Lots of places to duck in & out of & take cover. The squad play element was great too (that may be I was put in a good squad and of course could vary).
If I had believed the video card checker, I shouldn't be playing this game. I know I had to wind my resloution back as it was a bit slow on full HD setting, but it was still visually great & ran just fine. For reference I play on a laptop with a GeForce GT230M processor.
I used the campaign to sort my settings, tweeking them until I felt happy with the way it played.
The campaign single player element is not the strongest part of this game. It is not really in the true Battlefield mould of single play. You have to follow a specified path to carry out the predetermined tasks. So if you were in to the old single player it's not for you. There is only so many times you can keep running through the same scenario.
I am guessing the co-op mode is going to follow something similar, but with 2 of you following a predetermined scenario! You have the ability to pair up with someone else online who is looking to play co-op, so don't need to have a pre arranged partner.
All in all though I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the maps.
I've just got to learn to move a bit more cautiously :D

We finally got to play in a almost all JiF squad last night. Much more fun that way using TS.
We had some good rounds and did get hammered several times, yet it was still fun. I am disappointed with the squad system. It seems rather difficult to get in a squad with your buddies. Could be I don't understand how to use it yet.
Maybe we need to take a look at the party thingy in Origin to see if that works out.
I earned the R/C robot last night and actually fragged a bad guy with it. I giggled the rest of the night about it :hihi:
Best chance of getting on a full server with JiFfers seems to be when it changes maps. I just start hitting the connect button when they tell me the map is changing. Got in everytime that way.

unfortunately Dice still has not fixed the reserved slots. Gib is an admin so if he or I am on, we can kick to make room for JiF'ers.

In my lust to play last night I didn't yet install(but downloaded) the admin tool procon. I will install and play around with tonight.

I am still having a helluva time with getting my joystick to work. I finally was able to figure out the mapping but yet it doesn't seem to work in game. downloaded logitechs recent driver for it and their tester and it shows fully functional but I think flying will have to wait for a patch from dice on full joystick support. I Dice coded it for game pads because when I mapped Fire to Trigger1 it said Paddle1. I may have to pickup a xbox like controller for win7 and fly with it.

Hopefully can get into it tonight, having problems with Origin. Ordered and downloaded from Amazon on the 24th, but got an error saying "origin cache directory invalid" or something along those lines. Will try again tonight.
You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Have you tried running the download manager as Admin?
