BF3 availble on Amazon for $41.99 !!
Its the limited edition so you still get the map pack. However you do not get the physical warfare pack (early access to guns), instead you get more dog tags.
Cant seem to get that link to work, but if you search in amazon you can find it. It may say $59 but once your on the game page select digital download.

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Yikes. I just did the nVidia test of my card for BF3's specs, and came up way down on the FPs chart. I've got an nVidia GTS 250S.
Mayeb it's time to start looking for a new card.

Navy,
I am getting BF3 - don't waste your time with COD. BF3 will take over your life and is a much better 'team focussed' game

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Just been to test if I can run BF3 on can i run it..
Don't think I trust these things.
My PC Has just had an upgrade for the perpose of playing this game,
I had two Asus HD3850x2 and now have a Asus HD6870
Changed my Phenom x3 for a Phenom II x4 965
Also added 4Gig kingston hyperX to bring it to 8Gig.
Anyway to cut a long story short it says (on this can i run it)
Pass in all areas for min spec
But on recommended sped Fail on video card.
Says I need a HD6950 yet it also says
Video ram needed 1gb you have 4.7gb pass
pixel shader version 5 you have 5 pass
vertex shder version 5 you have 5 pass
Conclusion
These things are after you spending money
because I passed all the Recommended attributes of your Video Card section,
only part it didnt pass was the modle number HD6950
Any thoughts guys?

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Been looking around on BF3 info and stories..
So it would seem that The recommended settings
means HIGH or so one of the developers stated also
another article
The PC version is far better than the console.
He said The graphics for the console version will be
similar to the PC on low link below
http://www.lazygamer.net/xbox-360/battl ... s-it-gets/
That pic says it all
And... Bittorrent sites have the single player part of the game already with multiplayer disabled.
not tried it just incase I get caught out and traced for using it.

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Your good to go wids! You should according to the Beta FPS comparison chart get around 60-75 fps on High (might even be able to get close to Ultra) at 1980 x 1080. Plus that's according to the beta which wasn't 100% optimized. You should get good visuals with smooth gameplay no probs. I think EA might be pushing Nvidia a bit as they are together on this project so they would want to push for video card sales on behalf of them, so it's a good idea to take their recommendations with a grain of salt.[JiF]{zs}wids67 wrote:

Beta Chart : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... n_US#gid=2
(my understanding is that this chart was done by a few hundred of beta players and not EA)
Also remember that they most likely are talking about around 1980 x 1080 when they do their min and rec settings but you can always lower the resolution to get a smaller screen (black bars all around picture) to increase the performance. For instance I have a 1980 x 1080 but I plan on running it in 1680×1050 or around there. That gives me a smaller screen with black all around it but gives a performance boost to it and it's still a big size anyway. When you do this make sure that it doesn't go full screen though as it makes it look crappy. If you don't know how to do it just ask (has to do with setting the aspect ratio).
You probably know what I mean but in case you don't:

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Thanks for the input guys. I wondered if an nVidia-sponsored site could really be objective. I'll play a bit and then decide if I need to upgrade.
Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
I would recommed holding off on the upgrade. ATI's expected to release there new series of video cards end of this year or early next year, and Nvidia's early next year. Your card should run it, cant tell how well until release, so unless its absolutly unplayable I would wait until the new cards come out. Then the current prices will drop or you can grab a one from the new series.
I may also decided to sell mine and grab one from the new series. So they may be up for sale soon if you want a good card for a low price. Steps in the same boat as you (GT250) so I offered one of to him if I decide to sell. I have 2 ATI 5770's and would sell them for $50 each if you find yours doesnt run to well. Grimp has a single 5770 and ran the beta without a problem.

Re: Here comes Battlefield 3
Wids, I also have an 6870 in one of my rigs and it ran Beta beautifully, so no worries on the video card.
