Trying to figure out what to do here and maybe you guys can help me out.
I'm thinking about buying a Q9650 cpu (Quad 3.0, best cpu for my board I can get) and selling my E8600 (Duo 3.33) on ebay. The Q9650 with tax and shipping comes to 417.00 and I can sell my E8600 for around 150-180 on Ebay. So what I'm trying to figure out is if it's worth it or not. The real benefit is with BFBC2 which uses 4 cores and it will double my fps. With the duo it struggles a bit now and then which is kind of annoying but I've read that it loves quad's and will work awesome with it. I am also taking BF3 into consideration as well which I've read the developers say "as long as you have a quad it will run great". The duo works great for other games that only use the 2 cores but BFBC2 is the only game I play a lot of and of course BF3 when it comes out. I'm trying to figure it out quick because Newegg ran out of stock for the Q9650 a while ago and it just got some new ones in but I'm worried it will now run out again and be discontinued. I could get a used one off of Ebay but that's a little risky and I would prefer a new one but if its 200 bucks cheaper I would definitely think about it. Ahhhhhhhhh.....just lookin for some help in figuring it out.
P.s. I figure I can Overclock the Quad to 3.4 on air no prob so it would match what I have with the duo now. I'll just have to figure out how to overclock though.

Re: Decisions Decisions Decisions!!!
I got rid of my 2.6 Core 2 Duo and got a 2.66 Core 2 Quad.
My experience in BFBC2 is totally different.
No more stuttering and lag for the most part.
I still get lag issues here and there but nothing like before.
Just do it!
btw-We need to play some BC2Vietnam

Are you looking to just upgrade the cpu or cpu/mb? If you can reuse your ram and such, you should be able to get a Core i5 2500 and MD for about $300+, and even if you had to get new ram, you can pick up 8 gig for under $100 and use the rest of your components.
Check the link below as well.

If you can sell your old CPU/MB/Ram as a combo, you could cover a lot more of the expenses.

You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Re: Decisions Decisions Decisions!!!
Corn: I've heard that there is a huge difference, so good to hear first hand. I'm assuming that with BF3 it will be just as big a difference if not more.
Lot's more people playing Vietnam because of the sales so that rocks. I'll jump on if I see ya. That site "Ghetto girls" or something like that is down which is too bad cuz it was Rush and it was always full.
KellysHero: I'll look into what you said but for now I figure it's best to just replace the cpu. I think that just the Quad should be ok for at least another year or two. The Q9650 is I think the 3rd best cpu I can get for the board I have right now (Asus P5Q-E), the 1st and 2nd are "Extreme" cpu's which I can't justify the price for such a small difference. I think the "Extremes" are more for hardcore overclockers which I'm not interested in doing.
Cheers
