I didn't quite realize how much I'd like my new desktop until I had it for a few weeks. I've been using laptops for the last few years, and it's so nice to have a system that just does whatever I want it to do and not worry about performance! It's great to sit at a desk at home with a full pc again, now I just need a home office. ;) Let us know how it goes!

The PC has been assembled ! Oddly enough I didn't encounter any problems at all yet. Although, my CPU is running at 42 C while idle, which is a tad higher than I would prefer. Nothing has been over-clocked yet. I don't plan on doing that until I start playing a game that would benefit from it, as I'm still enjoying old favorites I haven't been able to play in a while (Doom 3, HL2 series).

One thing I want to investigate is being able to have my case fans controlled by my motherboard. Currently they just plug directly into the PSU rather than the motherboard. Need to investigate whether those fans can be modified with an adapter to be plugged into the motherboard and have their RPM adjusted accordingly.

I'll have to download that benchmarking application and give it a whirl. Currently spending time re-downloading all my games from Steam..

Putting in my order soon. Basically like yours Mike.

Anyone know why these higher hertz memory modules are cheaper than the Ripjaws?

slower but more expensive:

Is it a durability/reliability thing? I see the Corsairs are the "Only qualified 1.5V XMP RAM on Intel Core i3/i5/i7" per its web page.

This is the case I am going with. Sexy no? 7 Fans baby! I am too afraid of water cooling :)
