ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
This is the "new and improved" way to install/update your ACE mod files. For first time mod installation this method might be slower (we will have to test), but to keep your mod updated it should be easier. This program will update your mod version to the version the JiF server is running. No more mismatched versions!
1. Download Yomas Addon Sync 2009
- Go here: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/yoma-addonsync2009/files" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- Download the first file "AddonSync2009_Beta1.0.67.msi"
2. Run Addon Sync 2009 installer
- You do not have to install this into your arma folder
- Once the installation has completed Addon Sync will automatically start (Make sure Arma is not running!)
3. Addon Sync will ask you to locate your Arma folders
- Usually Addon Sync will find the correct directories, to make sure, click settings near the top left
- In the settings tab verify that your Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA folders locations are correct
4. Select the "Find Servers" tab near the top left
- In the "Server Name" section enter "[JiF]" then click "Search"
- When the JiF server appears, right click on the server and add it to your favorites
5. Go to your "Favorites" tab
- Click on the JiF server to highlight it, then select "Open Server"
6. On the new page you will see "Auto config URL" under the server name
- Enter this: "ftp://JiF:@grimp.homeip.net/updater/yas2302.7z" (without quotations)
- Now click "Import Server"
- After the server has finished importing click "Save" near the bottom
7. Go to the "Download addons" tab
- Click " 1)Check for addons"
- You will see files appear in the main box/window
- The files will be colored
Green = You have the file
Pinkish = You do not have the file
Orange (I think) = You have an older version of the file
- On the left of the screen you will see the mods with checkboxes
- Make sure all the boxes are checked
8. Select "2) Download addons"
- This will install/update your mod files
- Occasionally at the end of the download Addonsync will ask if you want to delete files
- Select yes. This deletes any files that are no longer necessary
9. The ACE mod has now been installed/updated
- You will only need to enter the Auto config URL once
- When it comes time to update you can open your favorite server tab and select the JiF server and go right to checking/downloading the addons

Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
I am doing this, and when I search for the [JiF] server nothing shows up.
Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
doh my fault, I was tinkering with the server should show up in a second or two
**Server was not in playing mode, in the addon sync search section you will see a drop down box "Mode" change it to waiting and it will show up. I restarted the server but no one has started the mission.

Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
Doc, I sent a PM to Mike about this. I either don't have the right privs to do this or I'm just not smart enough to find the right button.

I think posting this thread also officially makes Doc more responsible than Grimp. Now we can all relax knowing there is someone to take care of Grimp.

Actually Grimp and I tried to figure it out. We cant make it work either, but Jimbo knows the secret. He sticky'd the other 2 threads.
Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
Smeared some JiF peanut butter on this topic and made it sticky.
Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
Bought the game yesterday and followed your directions, everything downloaded as far as I can tell. However when I try to join it tells me things are different and doesn't let me join. What am I missing?

Re: ACE Mod Installation Guide (Addon Sync *NEW*)
Did you edit the startup file to include the mods? I don't see that in the directions and I know you have to do it, but I am not sure where the file is that needs to be edited
