You're talking about meImage

I hope it's just our cabin's modem's fault, otherwise I might leave the server forever.

Gnome, I believe some players were seeing lag even when you weren't on so I don't think it was you. I also saw your ping while you were playing and it was within the limits. If we keep seeing some lag I will submit a support ticket and see what the host says.

I finally had a chance to play today, I've been way too busy with work
My ping was about the same, but it seemed more "responsive" than the old server, like small movements were picked up easier.

Unfortunately, the euro-jiffers have better ping now and are not as easy to kill anymore
The worst thing is that I had just eclipsed Alf to get the #1 spot in score on the old server. Now I have to start over ;(

Mike: Thanks and Great job!
Grimp: Thanks again for hosting the old "secret server" for so long, and good luck with the new job

Mike -- you're right, my ping was OK, but things were slow.

I wasn't sure if it was my computer or the server; but the fact some others mentioned it makes me think it wasn't just my setup.

For my part, with the purchase of my new modem and some adjustments in Control Panel (I found my network and wireless cards were both enabled; not sure if that's an issue, but I disabled my wireless)) my ping seems to hold pretty steady and not spike up to 190+ like it used to.

Oh, and I should add that despite the problem mentioned above, the new server is MUCH better than the old one. Thanksfor setting it up.

I used to often get lag connecting to the old server but funnily enough when the guys in the US were saying they had lag I didn't have it. I remember a few months ago on our old server , guys from the US were getting lag and here in the UK it was ok.

I experienced severe lag yesterday night (CET). Especially flying was a "challenge".
Other (lag-related?) strange phenomenons was reported in chat (Gnome-father had problem reloading
weapon during one spawn(?), Uncle stincy saw me with "inverted" colour on tag, thinking I was friend,
which made him a easy kill:).

Yeah, that happends quite often. I reloads, but when I pull the trigger the magazine reverts to the previous mag. VERY annoying!

:papa:  Works good for me. The only lag I was seeing was on my computer if I ran TS and BF42 at the sametime. When I ran TS on my Laptop and BF42 on my desktop, no problem and ran great. Thanks Mike

Duff:

I haven't seen you get kicked by PB on the new server yet.
Does that mean your PB troubles are gone too?

Some observations now that the server has settled down into a working routine:

We need to raise the ticket count urgently and drastically.
With a large proportion of the maps, if you don't get a flag withing the first 5 minutes, it's game over!.
For example Omaha: the allied tickets run down to zero tickets within 5 minutes if they don't capture the first clifftop flag within those first 5 minutes.
Berlin too, if Allies are struggling for the first few minutes, game over. Market Garden, El Alamein, Kharkov etc etc. Some maps are over in five minutes, some in ten.
Discussions between several regulars and Jiffers on TeamSpeak over the last few weeks have concluded that doubling or tripling the tickets would be sufficient and appropriate.

Also for some reason, a few times a day, the server kicks everybody, and restarts the map. It's also causing player's games to crash to desktop fairly often, and in some cases (including myself) it crashes the player's operating system and causes the computer to reboot without warning. The old server was notorious for crashing too, but this one is causing mayhem on the user side lol
Perhaps, lowering the server slots to 24 instead of 32 may help.
