While meeting with my daughter's teachers yesterday, I learned of a free prgoram from Stardock called Fences that allows you to organize your desktop icons. I don't know about you, but I have a bunch of icons that always seem to get scrambled into different position on my screen. I often have to hunt down the particular one I want.
With Fences, I've now got boxes that organize my icons, such as Games (BF42, ARMA 2, WoW, etc), Programs (Word, Excel, PPT, Acrobat, etc) and Maintenance (Recycle Bin, Antivirus, Defrag, etc). It's made it much easier to find what I need quickly. The boxes are customizable, and you can click and drag the icons into any of them.
You can see it at: http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Cool (and free) program to organize desktop icons
