BF42 Server Donations **10-1-13**
As most of you know by now our BF42 server is going away very shortly. We have been very fortunate to have such a great server for so long at no cost! That time is at an end though so if we wanna keep a BF42 server we gotta pay now. It was great while it lasted and we thank those that have been involved in it's long life.
We can pay for this new server yearly if we wish. We would need about $300 for a 24 player server for the year. We could also do 6 months or whatever. So I guess we'll see what we get for donations. To make it easy I'm just gonna round the cost to $25/mo any excess will be saved for next year or to put twards something else JiF related.
Below are the subscribe and unsubscribe buttons for server donations. Use the drop down to select a monthly donation amount, or use the one-time donation button. Select the amount you would like to donate on a monthly basis by using the dropdown and hit "Subscribe". Every month the amount you selected will be sent until you cancel the subscription. For your convenience I have also added an unsubscribe button. (It's not easy to find on the PayPal website.) I will keep a tally going in the second post of this topic so everyone can see where we stand for donations.
***New option added 10-1-2013***
You can send your donation directly to the host using the button below. The page shows you the current account balance and you can contribute using Paypal. The monthly cost is $29.95.

BF42 Server Donations **10-1-13**
I now track the expenses and donations with a Google Doc Spreadsheet. You can view it using the below link to see the details. Explanation below.
JiF server expenses and donations
Account Balance: $41.82 as of 10-1-2013
I have split each year into 2 separate worksheets, one for donations and another for expenses. Each donation worksheet after 2011 adds any unspent money from the previous year, to arrive at a total donations for the year. This total is then used on the expense worksheet to arrive at the account balance.
I'm no financial guru by any means, but hopefully this makes sense.
Click to show the old post. I no longer update it, but didn't want to remove it since it deals with money!

Re: BF42 Server Donations
-Extra Info-
The new server will not be purchased until our current server goes offline. There may be a day or two of downtime with the transition but it will be done as fast as possible. I do not want to start the clock on the monthly cost until I have too.

Old server has been removed. Sorry, but I had to get it done. Good luck with the new one!

You can count me in, just signed up for the monthly donation.
Re: BF42 Server Donations
I've run into some issues with getting a new server setup. I am looking at other options, will let you know but the more donations we get the more options that open up.

Re: BF42 Server Donations
I have contacted a few companies. It looks like I'll have to rent a dedicated server for Bf42. This is going to cost somewhere in the $50-$150/mo. It's a big range I know but I'm hoping it'll be closer to the $50/mo price. I've got one email to a company asking for a trial of a server. Their datacenter is in Philadelphia so maybr latency won't change much. I'm still looking for more deals though and my goal is to choose a host by the end of the week.

Re: BF42 Server Donations
Is there a way to make donations without a paypal account? I don't have one.
Re: BF42 Server Donations
I've had a few people send me a check in the past. You don't need a paypal account to donate though, you can just use a credit card and it will be like any other online transaction.
