Inspired by Curtis, while playing on the Berlin map.
A lesser known song by REM, a cover version of Leonard Cohen's classic, First We Take Manhattan.
I couldn't find this on Youtube, so I made a video myself and uploaded it a few days ago:

It's a shame WT but the content was blocked from the UK , Cohen's First we take Manhattan is a great song and was also covered well by Jeniffer Warnes on the "Famous Blue Raincoat" album
Here's my track for today ... (Lyric kicks in at 2:50)

Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic blues-rock style, and is also credited as being pioneers of heavy metal . They initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s

Cool - I've never come across that version before. One of my favorite Paul Simon tunes (written by Willie Nelson) is American Tune. It is both subtle and courageous without being vulgar or preachy. It one of the songs that transcends the boundary between poetry and pop music much in the same way as Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' or 'Suzanne', Bob Dylan's 'Tangled Up In Blue' or 'Blowin in The Wind'' or even "Who let the Dog Out' by the Baha Men - which still brings a lump to my throat and sometimes even projecting beyond that.

Willie has written a number of songs that have become associated with (or even trade marks of) other artists like "Against the Wind" which Bob Seger made a hit. I have never been a country fan or even a Willie fan for that matter, but I must confess that this one shows up in my play list. Don't know why it touches me in the way it does.

Yes Badger not many people appreciate the huge contribution that the Baha men have made to progress of the musical art form.
Enough of this folly , let's get back to the rock and I ain't talkin' bout dub ....

"Lean on Me" was a 1972 hit for Bill Withers. Wow, I remember this song when it came out even though I was just 10 years old at the time. Think about it - by the time this came out Tissue had already switched his music collection from Gramophone to Dictabelt to Open Reel-to-Reel before finally embracing 8 Track technology as the wave of the future. You have not really heard Bill Withers until you've listened to the K-Tel "More Sounds of the 70s" 8 Track. "Lean on Me' comes between CW McCalls' "Convoy" and "One Toke Over The Line" by Brewer & Shipley.

"One Toke Over The Line" was essentially written as a joke commenting on the "problem" of over indulging in weed. The best version of it was performed by Gail and Dale on the The Lawrence Welk Show where they had mistaken the lyrics to be "spiritual"
