Arma II Operation Arrowhead
A few of us have been playing Arma II.
It has it's good and bad points. Campaigns seem pretty buggy. Some of the other online modes are pretty fun.
I will say it is the only game I have ever fell asleep at the wheel on I swear we drive for hours in that game.
Jimbo keeps saying "Are we there yet?" and when we get there he does not get out, because he is asleep
If you want a little more realism and strategy in you FPS you may want to try it. Just bring some coffee and snacks for the long drives. Maybe a porta-potty
When we got it the combo pack was $50 US.
All though I am still figuring after 2 weeks I am enjoying it.

Re: Arma II Operation Arrowhead
I just tried this game but it was weird all I could do was just stand there and eat grass then I finally saw some other players. They all jumped out of their cars and well....this happened!

I shot a cow one day on the game, the spoils of war and all. Thought maybe we could eat it. All it did was wake up nearby local fighters and piss them off Jimbo likes to shoot the rabbits.

Only you Grimp!
I played again last night with Jimbo and Doc... we (I?) finally figured out the 'swift travel' button on the map so I don't have to spend 15 minutes traveling. The biggest problem with the (previous) travel time was that I invariably died instantly when I arrived
The mod we tried last night (more realism) seemed promising, as does the game in general.

Funny, as I decided to take a look & downloaded the demo today as I've seen you chaps on TS playing it. Thought I would take a peak at what was catching your attention.
Haven't actually installed it yet, but will do that at work in the morning!

Yeah, i think it'll be pretty good if we get more people playing.
Learning curve is a little tough, but really not too bad.

The new gamemode we have been trying seems fun. Its similar to BF's conquest combined with a strategy game. Each team has a commander who can construct barracks and vehicle factories. Each town captured increases the amount of money and resources recived. The maps are absolutely enormous. Some of the towns/cities that need to be captured seem like the size of an entire Bad Company map . According to the game developers one of the maps is 225km².

Sigh, another game my almost 6 year old rig can't handle. I need to invest in a new system. Maybe Santa will bring me one.

Grimp you must be able to read my mind even at this distance.
I installed & started taking a look around & thought I would check out the controls! OMG
I was beggining to fear that I would have to get my daughter along to play the game. I could just tell her what I wanted to do & knowing how good she is at remembering things she would be able to tell me what keys to press
