I sometimes like to play FH 0.7 on punkbuster servers and also in singleplay/coop mode. Since I installed Win 7, FH 0.7 stopped working, it just crashed before the map finished loading.
I did some research and twiddling around and I have a solution to this problem.
On Windows 7 do the following
Run FH 0.7 as administrator with the following compatability mode settings
Win 98/ME compatibility
Disable visual themes
Disable desktop composition
Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
When in FH 0.7 set your video display to 1024 x 768 x 32 @60 (or lower resolution if necessary)
If you do all this you should be all set to go

OK - Do all the silly things you have to do to get BF1942/Punkbuster to work on Windows 7 then start the game and in the "Video" section turn off: 1) Environmental mapping, 2) Lightmaps, & 3) Shaddows.
The game looks like hell but it generally will run for several maps between crashes.

OK. Weird thing. After you load a map you can turn back on Lightmaps & Shaddows without crashing.

I don't have to turn off light maps and shadows at all and it works fine
