You need the 1.6 client Part 1,2 & 3. And you need the 1.61 Client Patch.

You may also need the Ea Community Map Pack (At the bottom of the page)

Yesterday I had my first evening of playing BG42 with some Jiffers and others on the MoB-Server and wnat to share my impressions.

The maps are very nice and made with a lot of details. I love it, to see something new beneath the good old BF1942 maps.

There is a huge amount of new tanks, vehicles and weapons which you can´t find in BF1942. But I felt, that I was not really getting into the game. One thing I don´t like is, that I mostly did not see the enemy, who just shot me, especially when I am in a tank. You feel an explosion and you don´t know where the enemy is hiding.

I like the face-to-face fight in BF1942 where the one wins, who is better aiming. In BG I think often the one wins, who found the better hideout.

I don´t like it, that I don´t really see, that my shot from a tank hits the enemy tank. You always see an explosion with lot of fire. OK, BG is more real.

Yesterday I won a lot of close fights with MP or rifle. The enemy is dead very fast. Sometimes you only need one shot. The game seems to make no difference where you hit the enemy. In BF1942 I lose most close fights because others are better in aiming for my big head ;)

The people talked a lot (in german) about things, which have nothing to do with the actual game. Possibly this is not always in this way.

I will give it some other chances because I like the new maps and vehicles and want to check, if I better get into the game after more rounds.

People there seem to have no rules for bad language but I don´t felt that the atmosphere was too bad. There was not so much swearing. Take a look at the "noob server", there you can learn something about permanent "hard swearing" ;)

the atmosphere is good for everyone exept for Gnomey he's the one swearing anc calling everyone cheats. but dont listen to it just get on Ts with someone and laugh about him, thats what i did yesterday with 'V' jeronimo and we had a great time

the tank battles made me mad at the beginning too but u just need to get used to it and have ur eyes open look out for big bushes with corners sticking out. even if ur not sure its a tank shoot at it. also when u drive down somewhere dont only look to the front i shoot u many times yesterday cause u passed me at high speed as i was sitting in a bush.

inf weapons are way different on BG rifles are amazing they have loads of power and can mostly take out a guy with one shoot. the pistols are very good too fast shooting very good aim and good damage. i managed 95 kills with rifle and pistol playing stalingrad factories last sunday

I must say that I love the BG42 mod, as for the MOB server the atmosphere has gone downhill over the last few months. There seems to be a lack of team play , perhaps this is because if you are not on TS then it's not as easy to team play. I forever found myself asking for reenforcements when surrounded by enemy tanks and infantry. In the past I have enjoyed some great games on BG42 especially when a lot of Jiffers are playing. I will continue occasionaly to play on the MOB server and just ignore the annoying constant chat clutter and bad language. Perhaps we should have a BG42 Mondays slot on our Pot Luck server , anyone up for this?

Shell sounds like a good idea to me .I dont care for MoB server .Im no prude but i do not like tkers or disrespectful players .They need more admin monitering the game. I read the rules and they seem a whole lot like we play on jif ,just not inforced . A monday game sounds ok. or at least another server, the Frehch one is coop but only allows 10 or so people.

Shell
That is a great idea. I like the BG maps but Gnomey really bugs me. A BG monday/maybe Thursday something like that on our server would be great!

Sorry for keeping hijacking this thread:)
Alex I had exakt the same experience as u with the claustrophobic feeling sitting in a tank
seing nothing and getting killed by someone and u dont have a clue where from.
Now I learned to appriciate it more and learned the "hard way" to not rush just into battle
shooting at everything.

OK, I am willing to learn :)

Monday sounds good to me. Why don´t they kick this gnomey if a lot of people have trouble with him? Who is admin there? I had the impression, the Laux is a lot involved in BG42 and the server.

The admins are the guys wearing the MoB tag and as it seems most or all the guys wearing the BG42 tag. i had this discussion with a guy i play allot with 'V'Jeronimo and we think that guys like GeronimoIGer are full admins but i think that Gnomey has map change right but not kick ban rights cause i ve never seen him kick anyone even when i tell him to shut up and quit whinning.

personally i dont know about our own bg day i think thats not a good idea because bg is fun with many ppl and i dont thinbk we will get lotds of players on our server playing unless we advertise on the MoB server:-)

dater and i will probably get our own server at some point in november(i have to wait for my first pay check) and we will run bg, custom maps, funmap pack. rotation will probably be bg and free voting on all other maps.

I think Frenchy is right,we will probably get very little interest other than JiFFers for a BG day.
It would be a good idea to get to know who the admins are and let them see us in full force especially on Sundays.
