Re: Battlefield Academy game
Yeah, that does look interesting.
It reminds me a bit of an old game called Combat Mission, which had games covering the Eastern Front, North Africa and Normandy. It had a cool "I-Go-We-Go" system, where both sides put in their orders (move here, fire there, call in mortars over there, etc), and then you hit "play" and about one minute of the game played out according to orders, and how units reacted to what was going on. You could replay the one minute from any vantage point you wanted (e.g., from behind an AT gun that fired on and hit a halftrack; then watch it again from the halftrack's perspective), so it was like watching a mini-movie. Then you put in orders for the next turn, hit "play," and so on.
It was easy to play via e-mail.
I've seen copies of the CM bundle at Gamestop every now and then for $20 or cheaper. I assume you can also find copies cheaply on amazon, etc.
The game can be bought directly from Battlefront.com. I see they are doing a CM: Afhanistan.
