BF42 Map rating poll

I don't have any mandate to decide which maps are in rotation but I would like to complile our ratings of the maps in BF1942.

Note that this is not only for JiF-ers, ANYONE can and should contribute.

How?
Well, take a copy of the list of maps below and put a rating-point after the maps you want to rate (=>Mapname space ratingpoint)
Use points 1,2,3,..., 23,24, 25 and distribute these among the 25 maps you like most to se on our server.
Point 25 is the map u like most and so on.(Yes. That means that a bunch of maps will not get any points.)
You must use all 25 different points once.
If you want to add a Custom map, for example Dambuster( ), add it and rate it by using one of your 25 rating points.

Then PM me your list, I'll compile it after two weeks and come back with the result.

There will be PEANUTS given to some "randomly" chosen voters (voting on my fav-maps )

If I have missed a map in the list PLS PM me immediately.

Note: This poll is for maps played in Conquest-mode (not coop)

Thanks for doing this Rix! I was suprised only 10 people replied and that Aberdeen didn't make it over Peenemunde(I thought folks hated it due to the 2 natters and horton).... So, are we going to set this as the rotation?

Looks like some good picks.

I think we should try this rotation,but we will have to exclude the custom maps because a majority of players don't have them and this could cause a majority of our players to get kicked.
I do miss the custom maps.

I was just looking at this evenings map rotation from about 9pm uk time until 10:30pm and noticed the following maps were being played during this time with an average of about 5 players in conquest mode

It's interesting that these maps are at the very bottom of Rix's map poll viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3510&p=32901&hilit=+maps#p32901 so it begs the question , why does our rotation include these unpopular maps especially as they are bunched together. I suggest that we take another look at the map poll results and fill our rotation with popular maps namely :

If we do this hopefully we will increase the number of players and have some good old scraps like we used too.

Yep most of the Road to Rome maps are server emptiers I have noticed lately. Only Husky gets a good crowd in.
I must admit Gothic is not one of my favourites either.
Must make sure we keep the maps mixed up so like Shell's list we get mixed of Iwo followed by desert of El Al followed by close infantry of Stalin.
Don't like Gazala followed by Market Garden too much tanking work 2 maps running, should split with another infy such as Berlin.
This is just my thoughts though, but an idea of what would keep me more interested in staying as a player.

p.s. avoid having too many maps with planes in a row so we can get Gib's feet on the ground where we can see him more often!

The list order was just the results of the poll by Rix (most popular first). With a bit of thought and considering some of the issues that you raised Gav I'm sure that we can come up with a sensible list.

This server is alot of fun when you have a decent 10+ population atleast in it. I would say to keep vanilla maps rotating, and just maybe do like a custom night (ex. Sunday).

That sounds actually pretty good the custom night thing. We used to have an entire day devoted to running custom maps, but some server regs didnt like it much because they didnt have the maps. Should we do a Customs night, the regulars would have their time on normal maps, and then we could hop on for the customs at night as well as the normal during the day.Excuse me if im wrong, but dont most of our Euro-JiFs come onto the server later at night? just seems a pattern, so anyone else think that might work?

I have to agree that the R&R maps tend to scare off people except for Husky.
El Alamein and Gazala should be far apart from each other in rotation or at least spread them out with two infantry maps.
Gothic line is my least favorite followed by Penemunde.
We should leave Caen and Midway out of rotation and use it when the server fills up.
Custom maps Sundays would be great.
I would suggest that we have more of the smaller custom maps.

I think it would be if all admins were super admins so we could load those maps is the current player base has the maps and agrees they want to play some. Instead of another server.

I truly think keeping a condensed mostly vanilla maplist would be best. Then adding a custom/expansion night every week. This would keep the server more consistently populated. Especially this late in BF1942's life... keeping a server seeded would need this.

Once again, just my 2 cents
