I have read 5-6 different articles about the politcal stance of BSG. It is very illuminating to see different reactions. I think there has already been a corporate decision to stop it. I feel any meaningful commentary on current events portrayed through a sci-fi series will soon be squashed by Generous Electric. I feel I have a right to say something about GE. I am a GE brat. We moved 7 times in my early childhood from GE plant to GE plant. My father worked for them for 30 years. He eventaully made it to the corporate headquarters in Fairfield Ct. I would call the HQ a bastion of white racist blue blood (yes my father included). If you have ever driven by the HQ on the Merrit Pkwy, you would think it was a fortress (oh that's right they are one of the biggest military contractors in the world) I car-pooled with the son of the guy who developed this for GE http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Ma ... inigun.htm Remember the slogan "GE, we bring good things to life", yeah and if you don't like it we will convince you otherwise at 10,000 rpm! Why one of the biggest conglomerates in the world has to "pwn" media as well is a crime.
Well they own NBC and I can only imagine what they will do with BSG. I bet they kill it after a few shows... http://www.battlestargalacticasite.com/ ... urvive.php ...at least FOX didn't buy it.

I don't really think I'm dropping a spoiler (it's pretty much an obvious plot thing) but just in case highlight this post to read it all.
I'd hope so. So far it's kinda sucked compared to what it had been and there are tons of people getting turned off (and thinking about turning off the show). The Cylons look lame. They are apparantly incapable of detecting transmissions from the planet or things like weapons caches and instead need to rely on humans turning on humans.
The humans have gone from keeping the number of humans on display to show how precious life is to killing each other by the bucketload. And they aren't even trying to draw a distinction between killing turncoats (the police academy) from the killing innocent people in the market (which I don't think they will do but Sol talks about it in one of his rants).
It's silly. I get that they want to make some sort of political point but people watch sci-fi to escape from reality. Star Trek occasionally pulled off political statements (things like the first televised inter-racial kiss) but that was over how many seasons? The previous seasons made little statements here and there but they didn't build the plot around it. The way ST pulled it off and BSG did before this season was by -not- making it seem like a political statement. You watched an episode where in the middle you saw somebody kiss somebody. It wasn't a big deal.
They need to get back into space and get back into the business of looking for Earth and killing Cylons. If I want to watch lame political commentary I'd turn into the News or go to a Barbara Streisand concert.
It doesn't really work that way. They had the first 4 episodes already made and there are comments from people who've seen it who have noted that they get away from the 'New Iraqica' insurgent/rebellion script by the 4th episode (I don't think anyone watching this would consider that a spoiler but just in case it's blacked out). I think they're doing this to gain a little bonus publicity by looking 'edgy' and 'controversial' and then getting back to the business of entertaining us before they lose any viewers pissed about the political slant.[JiF]Mentat wrote:I think there has already been a corporate decision to stop it.

It's already filmed in HD, right? I'm kinda suprised that they don't put it on NBC during an off-hour on Saturday morning (like 3 AM or something). You know that die-hards would DVR it in HD and either rewatch it Sat. morning or, if they can hold off, watch it the first time on Saturday monrning. Heck a lot of 'em would probably stay up until 3 AM to catch it.[JiF]KellysHero wrote:It's definitely been edgy, but to buy it to squash it seems a bit overboard. Would be great to see the episoes in HD though.

Or just wait till the replay them in HD on the UniversalHD channel, after the season is over.[JiF]Sly Gambit wrote:It's already filmed in HD, right?
