Is the insurance company providing you with a rental car? You'd be suprised what they will try and repair. Who's your insurance company?
You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Mike
Any news on if you bought a car?
I noticed you were going to look at the Sonata. We have an 07 that we bought new. As you said it is an old people car BUT it gets pretty decent gas mileage. 24/25 in town and around 30 or better highway.
The best thing about it though is the warrenty. 10 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper and some what cheaper than the focus. We liked the focus too but they just would not make the price to match the price and warrenty on the Sonata.
We currently have about 17,000 miles on the Sonata and have not had any problems with it. My wife drives it daily but does not have far to go. It handles the snow and ice pretty well and rides 4 very comfortably. Could get one to two more in if they are kids and smaller. 3 adults ride pretty well in the back.
If you have any questions just let me know.

So a big update today..some already know through FaceBook. We bought a car last night! It was rather unexpected, but I am pretty damn happy with the deal. Here's what I hope turns out to be a quick run down of what has happened over the past few days....
I heard Tuesday that the car had been blessed with the ever so important 'totaled' status but no paperwork had arrived. Then yesterday I heard from the insurance company that all the paperwork for the total loss process had arrived and it was moving on for processing. In the meantime I had come to an agreement with a local dealer for a price a little below our budget on a car we wanted. So I said lets do it, put in the credit app and waited. He gets back to me, my interest rate tier didn't come in as well as they had expected based on my score. The price was now $347/mo with an assurance that this is what the price would be everywhere... uh-huh... The price he originally gave me, that I rejected was around $350, but he went to $275 to match another dealers first price to get the business..even though "they would take a loss." I went back to the dealer that had really played straight with me from the start with good prices, but was twice as far away. They gave me a price of $295/mo for the same car we wanted after running my credit and seemed to be genuinely sorry that it went up at all. Hard to say if that's true or not, but seemed true. What matters is the other place was trying to play a game... I really dislike that! So for $295 I could have the XLE with so many features my head was gonna explode! They had the car on the lot, I tested it and really liked it. I drove it away for the first months payment plus a lease inception fee, and I love the car!
It is by far the nicest vehicle I have ever had, and is quite a bit cheaper than our Civic! So much so that we are going to look for a second used car for me wife.... I always thought of Camry's as a get ya around pretty basic car... boy was I wrong with the XLE. One other shocker.... it's cheaper to insure than our Civic as well. Quite a turn of events I must say.
Here are some pictures I took this morning with my phone.

Nice car Mike!
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

Re: 70 Mage
The insurance company has valued my Honda Civic at $14,673.00, and that's what they are paying. My payoff amount is $11,500, but since it's a lease vehicle I may not see anything as they send it directly to the leasing company.... Will they send me the difference...I kinda doubt it! lol

You have the right to buy the car in the lease agreement correct? Buy it and collect the difference, don't leave 3 grand on the table.

Email from insurance company:
That is an email dreams are made of. I'd say it was a successful accident. Once fault is assigned I should get my deductible of $500 too!

Finally I have my hands on the police report! You can click the little magnifier glass in upper left of image to get full size.
The other driver was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign.

Was there any damage to the FJ?

Re: 70 Mage
yeah, but it was pretty minor. The door panel got pretty dented looks like, and I heard something about messing up the driver side front tire and related mechanics...but don't know anymore.
