Re: Need a new Video card
It is possible to have AGP and PCI slots on the same PC.
PCI and PCIe are not the same.
The post by Lonewolf is a great card for the price.
ATI has a few cards out there also, but their drivers are usually a problematic.(from my experience)

Re: Need a new Video card
I have to agree with the masses on this one, I would just buy a new PC. It doesn't sound like you really want to build your own, so this web site should help. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

Re: Need a new Video card
Cyberpowerpc is ok if you like to buy over priced and for someone that has the money and doesn't mind paying then they are ok but for someone on a budget you can do better then them. They fall into the same group as Alienware and some of the others for being over priced for what they put in it. If your not sure about putting one together yourself I'll put it together for you. You could buy a good setup from Tiger Direct and have it shipped to me then I'll build it and send it out to you and the only cost is the price of the barebones unit and shipping from me to you.[JiF]Blood God wrote:I have to agree with the masses on this one, I would just buy a new PC. Re: Need a new Video card
We were considering buying a new one, but we have a temporarly disease (ME/CFS) in our family, so lots of our money are going to medicine, so we try to save as much money as possible. So it's 'mostly' my money that wil be paying for this.
I have about 100$ left, after buying other things, and then the norwegian customs is a bit, so my mom will probably chip in on that. (After about 35$ you have to give 25% extra of the cost ) So it will only be a video card that i can afford.
Yes, thanks for offering to build it for me, Wolf.

Re: Need a new Video card
Yeah you have PCI slots but not PCI-E slots which is what the new video cards are. You might still be able to find some PCI video cards but they stopped making them things not long after AGP video cards came. The only video card that will do you any good now is an AGP video card.
Not a problem on the help to build it, I would make the same offer to any member of this family that didn't want to do it and didn't have anyone that close that could. There is a lot people that will by barebones PCs and then have someone build it for them as its cheaper. To bad you didn't live closer or something. I'm not sure about norwegian customs but I have a friend that lives in Germany and I buy stuff for him every now and then and then ship it to him and mark it used computer parts and I open every thing up and take it out of the packages before I ship to him and he said something about he wasn't charged something since it was used.

Re: Need a new Video card
Hello Cesar,
I believe I have an AGP 7600 GS that's not doing much in one of my PCs.
This card works well with BF1942 and I seem to remember was the best AGP card I could get at the time.
Not too sure about getting it to Norway, but a quick look at the postage from UK shows that you should manage to buy it and have it delivered for around 400 Kr.

Re: Need a new Video card
If you have an 8x AGP slot as you've said then it will work with your computer.

Re: Need a new Video card
Hey C, we have the same Chipset (I checked with CPU-Z) I have a AGP GeForce 7600 GT which works ok.
I have only 1.5GB RAM and I had some major lag problems in BG42 at explosions and so. Tuning the graphical settings to
not be on max solved it a bit.
