Using a previous install on a new computer

Post by Oscar Goldman »

Computer A and Computer B.

Computer A has BF1942 and it is set up just the way you want. All the options and keys set the way you want, and all your buddies and so forth.

Computer B, new BF1942 install, all patched and ready to go.

Copy the C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 1942 folder from Computer A and paste onto Computer B. Go into the folder and make a shortcut of the BF 1942 application to your desktop. Now you can play with all of your settings and and buddies and so forth without having to trouble with all of that stuff on your new install.

I didn't know if everyone knows this or not, but I had to do this recently. I play on 3 computers, on at home (rarely), one at my recording studio (mostly), and one at the office (bad boy!). At the office and at home I would get this "map not found" when the JiF server went to a R2R or SW map (even though they are installed). I took the folder from the studio and copied it to home and it worked last night. I am pasting it now to the office computer. Hopefully this problem will be a thing of the past now!
