iTunes

Post by [JiF][AARP]Tissueman »

My wife and I are still clawing our way into the 20th century. She just got a Blackberry and I got an iPod Touch. I've been wondering about turning on this Genius thing in iTunes. Is it worth it? Any downsides? I'm basically paranoid about such things.

Thanks,

I use Genius on my iPhone all the time. All it really does is group like music together. You can choose one song to be the basis for a genius play list, or iTunes now creates a couple play lists for you using the music in your library. I find myself using them quite often. I used to use shuffle all the time, but going from some rap song to a song by George Winston always aggravated me. Now I just pick what I'm in the mood for and it plays.

I turned it on finally on my iPhone and nothing evil happened that I noticed, but I don't use the music stuff very often.
Maybe you can get Flick Fishing and kick Jimbo's butt. He has the record swordfish and I can't seem to beat him!

Our Flick Fishing network code is PSSSN. His swordfish is like 860 lbs :( I apparently don't have the patience to real in one that big.
Not sure if it runs on the Touch, but it might.

the other thing that genius does is when turned on in itunes is allow them to present you with music you might like based on what you already have. It sends information to apple and gives you " Genius Recommendations" on the itunes store. So there is a bit of evil they usually do recommend some good things.

As far as Flick Fishing we can start again I forget what all my fish weights are and removed the game. Just let me know if you all want to start again. :)
