Antivirus Pro 2010

Post by [JiF]major confusion »

I ran into this Antivirus Pro 2010 program last night just surfing the net & it infected my laptop. WOW! What a nightmare!

Antivirus Pro 2010 is a fake antivirus program (rogue antispyware software). Antivirus Pro 2010 uses system warnings and alerts, pop-ups, false scan results in order to trick you into buying the software. The scareware does not offer any protection to computer!

Once Antivirus Pro 2010 installed, it will automatically start every time Windows is started. Once running, Antivirus Pro 2010 will scan your computer and display false scan results that state the PC is infected with a lot of trojans and viruses. All these scan results are fake! These infections not exist on your computer, so you can safely ignore them.

When Antivirus Pro 2010 is running your PC will show fake security alerts from Windows taskbar and nag screens. Some of the alerts:

Trojan detected!
A piece of malicious code was found in your system which can
replicate itself if no action taken. Click here to have your system
cleaned by Antivirus Pro 2010.

Privacy alert!
Your system was found to be infected with intercepting
programs. These can log your activity and damage your
privacy. Click here for Antivirus Pro 2010 spyware removal.

Also the program will display fake Windows Security Center that will recommend you use Antivirus Pro 2010.

I worked on this for at least seven hours between last night and today.
Then I found this site:http://www.myantispyware.com/2009/09/06 ... ent-262560

I was fixed in about 20 minutes!!! :viva: :viva: :viva:

I am running Trend AV on my laptop which is part of our corporate package.
It's good at catching stuff judging by the amount of virus reports I get delivered to the admin inbox when people come in to work & connect their machines up to the network.
I then have to take a little trip to their office to have a quiet word. ;D

Same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I had to re-install windows just to make sure it was gone. I picked mine up from a download on limewire, where did you pick your shiny new virus at???

Hm strange... I've been using some free Antivirus software for years now and I never had any trouble. :) I should be glad I think...

You can usually trust the freeware on C-net/download.com http://download.cnet.com/windows/

I never had any virus/trojan/spyware problems with stuff from this site.
