I have the G7 and I like it better then the G5. It looks nice but I think they need to offer it on the G7 also. I would like to have one but wont buy it because it has a tail.

A tail? Meaning a wire? To me, wires are the way to go, you wont see me buying a wireless until it is equally or more accurate to the response on a wired mouse!

Did you know that an RF Wireless mouse is faster in total throughput than a PS/2 mouse. That they have roughly the same sample rate. Did you know that a USB mouse has roughly the same throughput and sample rate of a Bluetooth mouse. The biggest factor in mouse speed is going to be how the mouse measures movement not how it transmits the data. Mechanical mice are going to be the slowest, while optical are faster and laser being the best there is.

No, the real indictment against wireless mice are the batteries and many of the nice high-end mice have charging stations.

I have several wireless mice as in the MX700, MX900, MX1000 and the G7. I like the first 3 the most as they have the built in lithium battery and the G7 has 2 small switchable lithium batteries. The G7 is the fastest of them all and I like for that I just hate the switching of the batteries as to where my othes just set in their charging cradel and are ready for the next day. I wont go back to a wired mouse if I can help it.

The RF Engineer that has rubbed off on me from my Father has to point out a partial disagreement that Batteries are the "Sole" cause of Wireless Indictment. Most RF signaled Mice/Keyboards use 2.4 GHz wireless technology. Those of us who are familiar with the battle of finding that "Optimum" spot to get wireless links on our laptops know this simple fact about 2.4Ghz: How easy it is to scatter the signal...

A glass of water in front of your mouse will interfere with your wireless signal. Anytime a family member complains about their wireless technology I will recommend they move the transmitter and receiver. The G7 is very prone to interference because often times people will put the "Ugly" receiver on the back of the machine or on the "USB hub" inside the cabinet behind the monitor. Your wires from the monitor can scatter 2.4GHz. Plants can do it as well and in fact sometimes better than other methods.

The reason they make them so accurate is because of the high rate of packet loss makes it so that they might perform almost as well and in some very rare ideal conditions, better than most "wired" equivalents...

In the case of "Battery Indictment" I dare say the biggest "strike" against the rechargeable higher end offerings is that they fall short because of user error... Rarely, does anyone RTFM when it tells them to make sure to let it charge a full 24 hours on the first charge. The techno-geeks feel they know better and think the factory charge is more than adequate and the battery will become adept at being feebly charged and never take on a full charge.Those of you who may suffer from this pandemic may try the "Refrigerator trick" to revive and clear the charge memory on a prone rechargeable. It rarely actually works but I have friends who swear by it....
